AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door 2025 preview
With AEW returning to London, England, rather than their All In PPV, this time it's AEW joining forces with New Japan Pro-Wrestling for the latest instalment of their huge Forbidden Door crossover event.
In the expected main event, it's 'Hangman' Adam Page defending the AEW World Title against MJF, with the Salt of the Earth having earned that title shot by winning the men's Casino Gauntlet at All In last month. With Page now a two-time AEW World Champion, Maxwell Jacob Friedman will be looking to achieve that same accolade by beating Hanger in London.
Where the women's top prize is concerned, ROH World Champion Athena likewise won a title shot at All In, and she's cashing in that Casino Gauntlet chip as she looks to dethrone Toni Storm as the AEW Women's Champion. And in terms of NJPW, IWGP World Heavyweight Champion Zack Sabre Jr. puts his gold on the line against the ever-great Nigel McGuinness in what should be a technical masterpiece.
In other title matches, AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door 2025 is stacked, with Mercedes Moné defending the AEW TBS Championship in a four-way bout against Alex Windsor, CMLL's Persephone, and STARDOM's Bozilla; AEW TNT Champion Kyle Fletcher puts his belt up against New Japan's Hiromu Takahashi; Swerve Strickland faces AEW Universal Champion Kazuchika Okada; and the Hurt Syndicate finds themselves defending the AEW Tag Team Titles against FTR and Brodido in a triple-threat tag bout.
Of course, we also have an all-star ten-man Lights Out Steel Cage content, where Kenny Omega, Kota Ibushi, Will Ospreay, Darby Allin, and Hiroshi Tanahashi face off with Jon Moxley, Claudio Castagnoli, the Young Bucks, and NJPW standout Gabe Kidd. For the legendary Tanahashi, this marks his final ever match in the U.K. as he gets set to call time on his in-ring career at the turn of the year.
Rounding out the AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door 2025 card, we've the much-hyped reunion of Cope and Christian Cage. With the former Edge & Christian now back on the same page, they face off with Cage's old Patriarchy pals, Kip Sabian and the recently returned Killswitch.
As of now, there are no matches announced for the Zero Hour pre-show, so expect those to be announced in the coming days, plus it also wouldn't be a surprise to see the main Forbidden Door card itself have another match or two added to it.
