There are storylines galore in the Italian capital, as world No.1 Sinner aims to become the first home men's singles winner of the tournament since Adriano Panatta in 1976. The four-time grand slam champion lost last year's final to Carlos Alcaraz, but his great rival will miss the remainder of the clay-court season to leave Sinner as the strong favourite.
The 24-year-old Italian is not the only world No.1 aiming to win the tournament for the first time, with female counterpart Sabalenka also bidding for glory. The Belarusian suffered a surprise quarter-final defeat against Hailey Baptiste at the Madrid Open last week, so she will be keen to bounce back.
On top of that, you have Italy's Jasmine Paolini returning to defend her title, after she beat Coco Gauff 12 months ago to end her country's 40-year wait for a women's singles champion.
You won’t want to miss any of the action, so here’s how you can live stream 2026 Italian Open tennis from anywhere in the world.

Italian Open 2026: Preview
The clay-court season is in full swing as the game's biggest stars head to Rome for the Italian Open. Both the men's and women's singles draws are packed with quality as the world's top players fine-tune their preparations for the French Open at Roland Garros, the second Grand Slam of 2026, later this month.
World No.1 and homegrown hero Jannik Sinner leads the men's draw and he will hope to take his incredible recent form into his home tournament, as he aims to become the first Italian men's singles winner here for half a century. While the withdrawal of Carlos Alcaraz has removed one considerable barrier to success, there are several other players with designs on lifting the trophy, including six-time winner Novak Djokovic and Alexander Zverev, a double champion here.
On the women's side, top seed Aryna Sabalenka will look to bounce back from her shock defeat against 24-year-old American Hailey Baptiste in Madrid this week as she also targets a first title here. The Belarusian had lost just once in 2026 prior to that result, but the other player to beat her – No.2 seed Elena Rybakina – also suffered an early exit in Spain, going out in the last 16 to Anastasia Potapova.
Last year's winner Jasmine Paolini sparked jubilant scenes when she became the first Italian to claim a women's singles title here in 40 years, and the 30-year-old is seeded ninth as she aims to retain her title. Paolini beat Coco Gauff in the final 12 months ago, and the American No.3 seed will surely be a strong contender as she builds up to defending her French Open crown.
