French Open 2026: Preview
The clay-court season may have kicked off in Rome for the Italian Open but it's here in France's Roland-Garros stadium that counts.
The clay court by it's very nature is a divisive court for players. Some thrive on it, most famously Nadal was title King of the Clay Court for his ridiculous stats which saw him triumph 14 times at the French Open as he fully utilised the surface.
Famously Sinner struggles more so on the clay, the French Open being the only grand slam so far to allude him after losing last year to Alcaraz. This will only make him more eager to snatch this final grand slam, and now Alcaraz is not playing this is his best chance, which will allow him to also claim the full grand slam set like his Spanish adversary did earlier this year at the Australian Open.
For the women's, it's anyone's guess who will take home the trophy. Gauff is defending but is number three in the seedings with her last and only grand slam win from last year being on Roland-Garros. There's no doubt that Sabalenka is pining for a French Open win, which has also alluded her, and a consecutive Wimbledon win would see her also achieve the grand slam set.
