The PS3 has lost of a lot of weight and is now happy to show you its new self.
Here's what the new PlayStation 3 Slim will look like. Those who have tried (probably with limited success) in keeping his or her PS3 original fingerprint and scratch free will appreciate the matte finish.
As with all hardware (and most things in life), it's what's on the inside that counts. But now that the PS3 has lost a lot of weight, are you any more attracted to it?

What did they cut out internally, who cares what it looks, only what it is inside.
Wonder how it will deal with heat dissapation.
Looks much better
too bad the games will still suck.
Emotion Engine inside???
I don't see a hdd cover anywhere does that mean no more user serviceable upgrades.
Well it looks better then i thought it would.
It's the same specs same hardware runs a little cooler and $299 price. Don't know shy so many want this it's not that much thinner and has the same specs games will look the same. Maybe more people will stop whining about oh the price is too high blah blah. If you want what every Joe blo has then get the cheaper crapbox or gay wii.
still no hulu cause Sony claims it will hurt their sells on the Sony Video Store unless hulu shares ad-revenue with them...
no hulu, no netflix... face it, PS3 slim is still a PS3... useless other than to play blu-ray movies.
i personally think it looks smart, and may trade in my 80gb PS3 for one of these sexy little babies.
I think I will finally break down and buy one of these.
Ps1 slim was inferior to phat, Ps2 idem, so Ps3 slim not win my vote, is cheaper so internally has worse hardware.
another attempt at "New Coke" eh Sony?
I don't own one and this will not convince me to get one. There are no games that I must have that I cannot also get on my 360.
Being a blonde, I'm highly disappointed with the matte finish...
Looks... um boring?
+ larger HD
+ smaller/formfactor formfactor
+ less energy waste
- No PS2 games compatibility
- No memory card slots (the 40GB version today does not have this either)
Some people regard the older design to be more esthetic, but perhaps some like the new one better?
As long as the smaller size doesn't end up trapping heat I'm good with it.
+Actual buttons (I hate the capacitive buttons on the current PS3, mine don't work half the time)
+Smaller footprint
-Matte Black case (Personal preference, I like the gloss black case on the current PS3)
? Hardware quality, I heard rumors they opted for a cheaper quality Blu-ray drive to cut costs.
the harddrive door is front lower right. it is still user-removable.

The reason why I want it (and many may not know this) is because it's cheaper then 99% of the blueray players currently on the market> but it doesn't stop there, it plays mp3's, dvd's, avi's, etc. Compared to most bluerays that still don't play multi-format video or music. And on top of it all it's a gaming console

Ever hear of a die shrink man? Three years is a long time to go without one! The 'same' parts are MUCH smaller now, think 90nm to 32nm. Not worse hardware at all. More efficient hardware.

When was the last time you priced a BluRay player? And it's spelled BluRay (no 'e').
lol its as thick as the original PS2
All the fancy graphics in the world still can't make up for poor game play. Games make a console, I don't care what's in it, and the PS3 has fewer interesting titles (to me at any rate) than any other console. BluRay is a non-starter at this point as I still disagree with the premium on media and I enjoy my existing DVD library just fine on my 60$ upconverting DVD player. Limited online offerings are also hurting Sony. Too little, too late IMO.
$300 for a kick ass media player than can play some games too? seems like a good deal to me...
If you look at the front, to me it seems to have only 2 USB ports, which means perhaps 2 controllers connected, at least for charging, and if you have USB hard drives attached for storage like I do, well one at least, it limits connectivity, unless they come out with USB hub compatibility.
doesnt look as shiny
everyone loves shiny things more
I don't like the matt finish. I've no problems with finger prints or scratcheds on a 2 yr old PS3. At least it dosen't look as flat as the unofficial images leaked before. I'm very happy with my 60 GB (upgraded to 160) with the emotion engine. I'll hold onto it until it dies or next gen consoles come out.
109 of 141 BluRay players that Amazon lists are below $300. That would be cheaper than 23% of BluRay players.
Too little too late. They should have released this thing just like this a few years ago.
Still, I'll stick to my PC - which can do everything a PS3 can do, and MORE.
Not a fan I have to say - it looks cheap and poorly finished as in all the seams between pieces and chromework look flimsy like the dashboard in a korean car....
In my opinion they should have made it more in keeping with their TV and home cinema kit - transluscent glass niceness with hovering LED's and buttons....
