Could this be the iPhone Fold? Leaked 3D renders reveal a surprisingly square design

When Apple announces the iPhone 18 Pro models later this year, we should also see the debut of the iPhone Fold. If Apple gets it right, it could be one of the best iPhones or best foldable phones.

Up to now, most of the images we have for Apple's take on the foldable phone have been conceptual, but we may have a clearer idea of what it could look like thanks to leaked renders. Prominent tipster Sonny Dickson shared a pair of 3D CAD renderings on X showcasing the iPhone Fold. It looks strange but also familiar.

The Fold appears to have a camera plateau similar to that of the iPhone Air; however, it features two cameras instead of one. It appears rounded at the corners, but the hinge area looks squared off with sharp corners.

The renders show the phone both opened and folded. In both forms, the device looks rather squat. Previous rumors suggested that the device would look like an iPhone Air mid-Animorph into an iPad mini, and this does seem to resemble that description.

Surprisingly, Dickson's renders do look very similar to a 3D-printed design that leaked at the end of December. That was based on previously leaked information.

Reportedly, the Fold will have an interior display measuring 7.8 inches and a 5.5-inch cover screen. The 7.8-inch display is supposed to have a 4:3 ratio mimicking an iPad. Apple allegedly delayed creating a foldable phone until it could ensure that the screen was creaseless, or at least as minimal as possible.

We typically start seeing these kinds of image leaks start popping around April and May as devices enter mass production. It's likely we'll see more fleshed-out renders or even factory leaks in the coming months. That will give us a better idea of the validity of Dickson's renders.
