Jarrad Branthwaite replaces Michael Keane at centre-back for Everton, who also hand a start to young forward Lewis Dobbin.

Wolves make two changes to the XI that lost to Brighton, with Hugo Bueno and Hwang Hee-chan coming into the side.

Everton and Wolves will both be looking to get off the mark for the 23/24 season when they go head-to-head this weekend.

It has been a tough start to the season for Everton, who are desperate to avoid a third consecutive relegation battle. The early signs in that regard are not good: after losing 1-0 to Fulham on the opening weekend, Sean Dyche's side were thumped 4-0 by Aston Villa last time out. It is still early in the campaign but Everton are already at the foot of the table after 180 minutes of soccer.

Scoring goals has been a problem for Everton for some time, so the fact they are yet to find the back of the net this term is not exactly a surprise. More worrying is how poor they have been defensively. Dyche is renowned for his ability to organize a backline, but Everton have shipped five goals already. Some of their defending was shambolic against Villa and a huge improvement in that area of the pitch is required if the Toffees are to pull clear of danger in the weeks and months ahead.

Wolves went down 1-0 to Man Utd in their first game of the season. They were, in truth, extremely unfortunate to lose. Wolves were the better team at Old Trafford and they continually cut through United on the counter-attack. But despite their impressive all-round display, Wolves departed empty-handed because they failed to score. Like Everton, that is a shortcoming that has dogged them for several seasons now.

There were fewer positives to take from a 4-1 home thrashing by Brighton last weekend. Granted, Roberto De Zerbi's side are one of the best in the division. But the manner of the defeat would have been hugely concerning for Wolves supporters, who were already perturbed by the club's transfer business this summer. This could be a long, hard season for Wolves, but a win on Saturday would lift the mood around the club.
