It's not the first time the Spaniard has struggled in high heat, but the good news for the 22-year-old is that the forecast for the AO final is mild, even a little bit brisk.
Semi-final controversy aside, he's been the standout player in Melbourne, and even while operating at 30% for the majority of Friday's clash he still hit 78 winners to Zverev's 56, and bailed himself out of five of seven break point situations.
Although Djokovic leads their head-to-head by five victories to four, Alcaraz won both of their previous grand slam final encounters, a pair of matches that probably still haunt the Serb's dreams. He smashed his racket on a net post and injured his wrist in the process during their five-set epic at Wimbledon in 2023, before going the distance to end up empty-handed again a year later.
