'Apex' (2026)
If you're looking for a roller coaster thrill ride that hits all the familiar beats, "Apex" should be on your radar this weekend. Director Baltasar Kormákur is no stranger to thrillers, with films like Everest and Beast under his belt, and both Charlize Theron and Taron Egerton deliver solid performances in this intense if somewhat forgettable race for survival.
Charlize Theron stars as Sasha, an adrenaline junkie and elite rock climber who escapes to the Australian to start over after a devastating accident on a mountaineering expedition. While braving white-water rapids and towering cliffs, she crosses paths with a mysterious drifter (Taron Egerton) who is a walking red flag. It turns out he's hunting the most dangerous game — humans — forcing Sasha to rely on every ounce of her skill and resilience to outwit the most ruthless predator she's met yet.

'Swapped' (2026)
I went into "Swapped" thinking it would be a thinly veiled rip-off of Pixar's "Hoppers," but was surprised to see it take its body-swapping shenanigans in a completely different direction. Instead of leaning into sci-fi and environmentalism, "Swapped" is more "Freaky Friday" in the animal kingdom, and it has plenty of charm all its own. It also marks Michael B. Jordan in his first post-Oscar role.

At the heart of the story are two animals who could not be more different: Ollie (Jordan), an otter-like creature estranged from his family, and Ivy (Juno Temple), a bird of prey confidently perched at the top of the food chain. After a strange encounter with magical flora, the two find themselves swapped into each other’s bodies. They form a reluctant partnership that grows into friendship as they work to keep their fragile ecosystem from collapsing.

'Jennifer's Body' (2009)
"Jennifer's Body" was panned by critics when it premiered in 2009, but in the years since, it's become a bona fide cult classic and seminal work of queer horror. I was hoping it's arrival on Netflix would be a hit, and I was delighted to see it crack the top 10 almost immediately. Directed by "Yellowjackets" executive producer Karyn Kusama and written by "Juno" and "Lisa Frankenstein's" Diablo Cody, this sharp, feminist horror-comedy stars Megan Fox as Jennifer, a high school cheerleader who undergoes a gruesome and unsettling transformation.
When she starts acting strangely out of the blue, her wallflower best friend Anita (Amanda Seyfried) gets concerned and demands answers. To her horror, she learns that Jennifer's been possessed and developed a taste for the emo boys in class (and I mean that literally). It's up to Anita to put a stop to Jennifer's rampage, and then hunt down the Satan-worshipping rock band responsible for the curse to begin with.
