New on Netflix in May 2026: 5 best shows and movies to stream, plus full release list

Netflix has revealed everything coming to the streaming service in May 2026, and there are a few shows and movies you won't want to miss. It's a great month for returning shows in particular; both "The Four Seasons" and "A Good Girl's Guide to Murder" are returning for second seasons.

They aren't the only shows you'll want to stream in May, though. "Legends" is a new British crime thriller that looks like a must-watch for fans of "Slow Horses" or "The Gold." F1 fans will also want to mark May 22-24 in their calendars. For the first time, Netflix will be livestreaming a Grand Prix weekend, from the first practice to the main event.

Why you should watch it: "The Four Seasons" season 1 was enjoyable, with Calvani and Domingo particularly delightful to watch. If you want a fun comedy-drama with supremely funny people, then this show should be on your watchlist.

'A Good Girl's Guide to Murder' season 2

Genre: British mystery thriller series

What it's about: In season 1, Pip (Emma Myers) took it upon herself to solve the killing of a local schoolgirl. She found the culprit, and he's now on trial, but when a key witness disappears, she's forced to solve a mystery once again.

Why you should watch it: If you want a satisfying bingable mystery show, this one is beloved by fans of the books it's based on and casual Netflix viewers alike. TG's Alix Blackburn called the first season "one of the best mystery shows of 2024," so the bar for season 2 has been set high.

Genre: British crime thriller series

What it's about: It's 1990s England, and Don (Steve Coogan) wants to win the war on drugs. His plan? Assemble a group of everyday customs officers, completely untrained in espionage, and send them undercover to infiltrate gangs and global drug dealing operations.

Why you should watch it: If this feels a bit like the 2023 dramatization of the Brink's-Mat robbery, "The Gold," it should. That show was created by Neil Forsyth, who is also the creative mind behind "Legends." So if you love a British spy thriller like "The Gold" or "Slow Horses," this show is a must-watch.

'Swapped'

Genre: Animated comedy movie

What it's about: Ollie (Michael B. Jordan) is a Pookoo, a small otter-like creature, whose sworn enemy in "The Valley" is Ivy (Juno Temple), a Kākāpō-like bird known as a Javan. These two constantly fight until one day a magical plant causes them to swap bodies. Now, they have to find another plant to swap back.

Why you should watch it: If you're tired of Disney sequels, this original animated comedy looks like it's worth checking out. Plus, it's got a great voice cast, including Tracy Morgan and Cedric the Entertainer in addition to Jordan and Temple.

Why you should watch it: For the first time, Netflix is livestreaming an F1 weekend. That means Practice, Sprint Qualifying, the Sprint Race, Qualifying and the Grand Prix itself will all be available to watch live as part of your subscription.
