Netflix is treating mystery fans well. The streaming service only just gifted viewers "Wake Up Dead Man," and is soon to be home to another twisting Harlan Coben drama ("Run Away") right at the beginning of next year. Today (Dec. 17), the streamer has shared the first details about another new detective drama that's on the horizon: "Jo Nesbø’s Detective Hole."

Pitched by the streamer as "a tale of obsession, betrayal, and blurred lines between justice and revenge," "Jo Nesbø’s Detective Hole" is set to bring the iconic Norwegian anti-hero Harry Hole to Netflix in a brand-new, nine-part serial killer whodunnit mystery, with Tobias Santelmann ("The Last Kingdom," "Exit") in the title role.

If this news has you hyped, we've got good news: you've only got to wait a couple of months to start streaming it. Along with a first-look photo (above), Netflix today confirmed "Jo Nesbø’s Detective Hole" would premiere globally on Netflix on Thursday, March 26, 2026.

In a statement, author, creator, and exec producer Jo Nesbø said: "Finally, we can reveal the premiere date and share this first look at Tobias Santelmann as Harry Hole. Seeing Tobias bring Harry to life has been really exciting and marks a new chapter for the character. I’m looking forward to sharing his take on Harry with the audience, and to have them join us for a truly dark and twisted journey.”

What else do we know about "Jo Nesbø' Detective Hole' right now?

Netflix has provided a short synopsis of the upcoming series, which reads: "Created by one of the greatest storytellers in crime fiction, "Jo Nesbø’s Detective Hole" is a whodunnit serial killer mystery led by famed anti-hero Harry Hole. Underneath the surface, this series is a nuanced character drama about two police officers – and supposed colleagues – operating on opposite sides of the law.

"Throughout the season, Harry goes head-to-head with his long-time adversary and corrupt detective Tom Waaler. Harry is a brilliant but tormented homicide detective who struggles with his demons. As the two navigate the blurred ethical lines of the criminal justice system, Harry must do all he can to catch a serial killer and bring Waaler to justice before it is too late."

As noted above, Tobias Santelmann is bringing Nesbo's titular detective to life, while Joel Kinnaman ("The Suicide Squad," "For All Mankind") is on hand as his nemesis, Tom Waaler.

Further cast includes Pia Tjelta, Ellen Helinder, Anders Bassmo, Kåre Conradi, Simon J. Berger, and Peter Stormare, among many others.
