  • A queen Puffy Cloud usually costs around $1,049 (MSRP: $2,399)
  • You can usually pick up a queen-size Hybrid Lux for $1,499 down from $2,849

As both the Cloud and Lux Hybrid are brought to you by sleep brand Puffy, they come with the same generous extras: a lifetime warranty, free shipping and returns, and a 101-night sleep trial.

While the extras may be the same, there is quite a difference in price. As the brand's entry-level model, the Puffy Cloud is the cheapest of Puffy's line-up mattresses. The Cloud's MSRPs may be high, but frequent discounts put the Cloud into the mid-range price tier, with a queen frequently down to $1,049 from $2,399.

The Lux Hybrid, meanwhile, is Puffy's second-most expensive mattress. It sits in the premium price bracket at full retail and only falls into the upper-mid bracket when on sale. A consistent sale usually takes a queen-sized Lux Hybrid from $2,249 to $1,499.

In terms of design similarities, the Cloud and Lux Hybrid mattresses have cool-touch covers, an anti-slip base cover, an air-circulating climate fiber top layer, gel-infused Cooling Cloud foam, a 2" layer of pressure-relieving foam, and a bottom layer of high-density support foam.

However, while the 10" Puffy Cloud features all four layers mentioned above, the 12" Puffy Lux Hybrid also has two additional layers: 6" Contour-Adapt Coils and a Lux-exclusive Plush Dual Cloud Foam.

The tier of coils are encased in foam for motion isolation, while the Plush Dual Cloud Foam boasts 2" of responsive gel memory foam to relieve pressure points.

PUFFY CLOUD VS PUFFY LUX HYBRID MATTRESS: Support and Comfort

  • The Puffy Cloud is medium-firm, rated as 7/10 on the firmness scale
  • We rate the Puffy Lux Hybrid as 5/10 (medium-plush) on the firmness scale
  • Both mattresses did a great job at keeping our testers cool

The Puffy Cloud and Puffy Lux Hybrid have both been tested by our panel of sleep experts, and you can read about our testers' experiences in our Puffy Cloud mattress review and Puffy Lux Hybrid mattress review.

When testing the Puffy Cloud, we found the all-foam bed to have a medium-firm feel (7/10) and recommend it to back sleepers with aches and pains or side sleepers who like their beds to be on the firmer side.

The Puffy Lux Hybrid, meanwhile, is much plusher at 5/10 on the firmness scale, making it ideal for side sleepers who prefer a soft body-hugging feel. However, this medium-plush bed will be too soft for back and stomach sleepers.

In terms of temperature control, both mattresses use Puffy's signature cooling technology via cool-touch cover. Reviewers for the Puffy Cloud did have slight complaints about the slipperiness of the cover, but testers for the Lux Hybrid made no such complaints. (This maybe due to the Lux Hybrid's cover being quilted for extra-cushioning comfort.) However, reviewers for both mattresses overall were impressed with how the beds regulated temperature.
