We’re officially in the stretch between Labor Day sales events and Black Friday door-busters, but if you know where to look, there are still some killer TV deals kicking around. As the Senior Editor of TVs, it’s my job to point them out.

Right now, the 65-inch TCL QM7K is just $897 at Amazon. It’s one of my favorite deals of the day, not just because it’s a discount of over $600, but because this is a great pick for people looking for a gameday-ready set ahead of football season.

The TCL QM7K is a mid-range Mini-LED TV that collects many of the most-valuable specs of a higher-end TV, but comes in at a price that most people can justify when shopping for a new 4K TV. It's bright enough to stand up in sunny rooms during afternoon sports and comes with Google TV baked right in. Gamers will also appreciate the QM7K's thorough selection of gaming features.

The TCL QM7K uses Mini-LEDs — smaller-sized LEDs that typically offer brighter highlights, better backlight control and superior contrast overall.

With the help of its Mini-LED display, the QM7K gets much, much brighter than entry-level sets limited by lesser LEDs.

According to the tests we conducted for our TCL QM7K review, this set reaches over 1,700 nits of HDR highlight brightness. For context, the entry-level TCL QM6K — a more affordable model — tops out at around 700 nits.

This makes it a fantastic fit for football fans whose weekends are packed with daytime viewing engagements, as the QM7K is bright enough for the task.

The QM7K delivers where it counts in other areas of performance, too. Its quantum dot-enhanced colors are punchy and well saturated, its above-average motion handling keeps fast-paced content (like sports) looking smooth and, in its most-accurate picture mode, the QM7K is finely tuned right out of the box.

Gamers stand to wring even more value out of the QM7K, as it's laser-focused on making the most of the Xbox Series X and PS5 Pro. It's equipped with a pair of HDMI 2.1 ports that support 4K gaming up to 144Hz. Variable Refresh Rate (VRR) and AMD FreeSync Premium Pro are included, too.

All of this is built around Google TV, which is one of my preferred software suites. In addition to its fantastic app support, the interface is just really easy to navigate.

There are a good number of TVs on sale right now, but few are as crowd-pleasing as the QM7K. It's right smack in the sweet spot between "cheap" and "expensive," all while maintaining a level of performance that will still impress you and your guests.

Simply put, I expect it to be a popular pick for people hosting playoff parties this season.
