The DreamCloud Classic is our top-rated mattress in a box. We often compare it against the Saatva Classic because the two are a lot alike. Both are well-made beds on the affordable end of their respective price scales and offer sufficient relief for sleepers with aches and pains. Like Saatva, DreamCloud delivers big on the extras, with a one-year trial, a lifetime warranty, and a free bedding bundle included with purchase. You won't be able to choose your firmness level here; in our DreamCloud Classic Hybrid Mattress review, we rated it a 6/10 on the firmness scale and found it most comfortable for side sleeping. This hybrid mattress not only comes in multiple firmness levels like the Saatva Classic, but it also boasts a wide range of bed sizes, including RV beds and non-traditional dimensions like short queen. That versatility will work to your advantage if you need a new mattress for your camper or your bedroom has an unusual layout, but there are a few quibbles, as we note in our Brooklyn Bedding Signature Hybrid Mattress review — namely, edge support and temperature regulation. You can add a GlacioTex cooling cover, but that'll push you out of the $1,000 range; a queen-size is otherwise $932.40 (reg. $1,332) after 30% off in the Cyber Monday sales.

You might be surprised to find a memory foam mattress among this list of Saatva Classic alternatives, but the Puffy Cloud looks and feels more like a luxury hybrid. There's some sink-in softness that's balanced out by an overall medium-firm feel — we rate it highly for back sleeping in our Puffy Cloud Mattress review — although it does lose some points for its weaker edge support. Puffy also includes a lifetime warranty, along with a pair of free pillows and eye masks to elevate your sleepytime comfort. Like the DreamCloud above, this is an evergreen sale from Puffy, but you're still getting a lot for less than a grand in a queen.

Are any mattresses really comparable to the Saatva Classic?

The Saatva Classic is our highest-scoring mattress overall, but among the consumer market, there's really no bed that equals it in every category.

Of course, there are some excellent alternatives if you're operating on a smaller budget, but remember to manage your expectations carefully. They won't deliver Saatva's level of luxury sleep quality or best-in-class performance — but they'll still be good enough for the cost.
