We called the LG C5 OLED the best TV of the year — and the 42-inch version just crashed to $799
LG's five-star OLED is the Swiss Army Knife of TVs
There are plenty of Cyber Monday TV deals to choose from, but most of them don’t involve our best-reviewed TV of the year. LG’s mid-range OLED TV for 2025, the LG C5, is currently seeing some steep discounts across all of the sizes in the series, but one sale in particular caught my eye this morning.
Right now, the 42-inch LG C5 is just $799 at Amazon as part of the retailer’s massive Cyber Monday sale. That’s its lowest price to date (though you’ll have to add it to your cart to reveal it).
Why is the 42-inch version of this TV so intriguing? The answer lies not only in its new low price, but in its versatility, too. At 42 inches, the C5 makes for a terrific monitor, or as an all-star TV for a smaller living space.
In our five-star LG C5 review, we showered this OLED TV with praise for its sensational performance, its class-leading selection of features and its approachable price point. The C5 delivers all of the benefits we've come to expect from OLED displays, but its design, software and overall experience is the result of LG's excellent engineering.
Price check: $899 @ Best Buy
The C5 is a five-star TV for good reason. It boasts all of the benefits of OLED technology (like perfect black levels, pixel-level dimming and ultra-wide viewing angles) and offers better brightness than what you'll find on cheaper, entry-level OLED TVs. That extra brightness goes a long way during HDR content, as it creates a greater sense of depth and more of a cinematic pop.
As mentioned, the 42-inch version of this TV is a great candidate to be your next monitor. All four of its HDMI 2.1-compatible inputs support 4K content up to 144Hz — pretty darn good for dedicated gaming.
The C5 comes from a long line of C Series OLED TVs, and I've known and loved all of them. I still own an LG C1 and use it every day. I know that this line of TVs can keep up with my gaming needs and look incredible when the time comes to settle in for a movie.
Given that this deal is hidden until you add the C5 to your cart, I don't expect it to last much longer. Snatch it up while you still can.
