Do you hear that sound? It's all the new TV shows dropping faster than leaves this week on Netflix, Hulu and other streaming services, as well as cable and broadcast channels.
True crime fans can sink their teeth into "Monster: The Ed Gein Story," a chilling portrait of one of America’s most infamous killers. Comedy lovers won’t want to miss "Chad Powers," a half-hour romp starring Glen Powell. And for those who like their laughs served with heart, "Abbott Elementary" returns for its fifth season, bringing back the teachers you’ve come to adore. Here's our guide on the top new TV shows to check out this week.
‘Chad Powers’ (Hulu)
Hulu is calling an audible with this new comedy from Glen Powell, “Loki” creator Michael Waldron and producers Peyton and Eli Manning. But don’t go thinking this is some sweet “Ted Lasso”-type story; it’s more along the lines of “Eastbound and Down.”
Powell plays Russ Holliday, a cocky college quarterback who flamed out in spectacular fashion and spent the next decade as a punchline. Out of options, he digs into his dad’s Hollywood prosthetics kit, slaps on a fake face and shows up at a bottom-tier Georgia football program as “Chad Powers,” a down-home QB with suspiciously good skills.
Episodes 1-2 premiere Tuesday, Sept. 30 at 12 a.m. ET on Hulu
‘Love Is Blind’ season 9 (Netflix)
The pods are open once again, this time in Denver, where 32 singles are betting on love without ever seeing each other first. Hosted by Nick and Vanessa Lachey, season 9 brings a mix of outdoorsy adventurers, a few nurses, real estate pros and even a Rolex expert (mmkay).
As engagements turn into cohabitation and wedding plans loom, sparks and drama are inevitable. Will these Mile High romantics prove that love really is blind, or will reality crash the party once the walls come down?
Episodes 1-6 premiere Wednesday, Oct. 1 at 3 a.m. ET on Netflix
‘Abbott Elementary’ season 5 (ABC)
School is back in session at Abbott Elementary, and this year, the halls are more chaotic than ever. Janine (Quinta Brunson) is grappling with her role now that shiny new teachers have arrived, while Gregory (Tyler James Williams) is trying to keep up.
Ava (Janelle James) flirts with romance without losing her signature edge, and Barbara (Sheryl Lee Ralph) finds unexpected joy running the music class. Add newcomer Luke Tennie to the mix, plus oversized classrooms and classic co-worker awkwardness, and you’ve got another year of hilarious mishaps and heartfelt moments.
Episode 1 premieres Wednesday, Oct. 1 at 8:30 p.m. ET on ABC (via Sling, Fubo or YouTube TV) and next day on Hulu
‘E.B. White’s Charlotte’s Web’ (HBO Max)
The classic tale of “Charlotte’s Web” spins back to life in a three-part animated miniseries. Amy Adams brings warmth and wisdom to Charlotte, while Elijah Wood voices Adult Wilbur and Griffin Robert Faulkner charms as young Wilbur.
With Jean Smart narrating and a star-studded ensemble — including Cynthia Erivo, Randall Park and Rosario Dawson — this heartfelt retelling celebrates courage, empathy and small acts that change lives. Produced by Sesame Workshop and guided by Luke Matheny (“Ghostwriter”), it’s a touching reminder that friendship can make even the smallest pig feel extraordinary.

‘Monster: The Ed Gein Story’ (Netflix)
Ryan Murphy and Ian Brennan are back with another true-crime deep dive, this time zeroing in on the man who practically invented modern horror. The third season of “Monster” stars Charlie Hunnam as the Wisconsin recluse whose grisly crimes in the ’50s didn’t just terrorize a town — they became the inspiration for “Psycho,” The Texas Chain Saw Massacre” and “The Silence of the Lambs.”
Laurie Metcalf shows up as his iron-fisted mother, while Tom Hollander and Olivia Williams play Hitchcock and Alma Reville, underlining how Gein’s horrific acts became the stuff of movie legend.
All 8 episodes premiere Friday, Oct. 3 at 3 a.m. ET on Netflix
