Kumar has held Gill to less than 16 runs across their previous meetings, while Rabada — the top head-hunter in the Indian Premier League this season — has claimed Kohli in five of their previous 16 tussles. Rabada, incidentally, is the only player with more wickets to his name than Kumar.

RCB topped the IPL standings, with GT finishing in second, but there was a chasm between the teams when they met in Qualifier 1 on Tuesday. Rajat Patidar thrashed home an unbeaten 93 off 33 to power the holders to a resounding 92-run victory. While Kohli was able to withstand the Rabada onslaught, Gill was bowled for two by Kumar.

However, he returned to form emphatically in Qualifier 2 on Friday, downing Rajasthan Royals and Vaibhav Sooryavanshi with a cool 104 off 53, and there's one big difference between the IPL final and Qualifier 1: the decider is being played at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad — GT's home ground and stronghold.
