WWE WWE Backlash 2026 predictions and storylines

  • Tag Team Match: Danhausen & TBC vs. The Miz & Kit Wilson
  • Singles Match: Seth Rollins vs. Bron Breakker
  • Singles Match: Iyo Sky vs. Asuka
  • United States Championship Match: Trick Williams (c) vs. Sami Zayn
  • World Heavyweight Championship Match: Roman Reigns (c) vs. Jacob Fatu

Taking place at Tampa's Benchmark International Arena, WWE Backlash 2026 is headlined by Roman Reigns defending his World Heavyweight Championship against his cousin, Jacob Fatu.

For the Tribal Chief, this will mark a first defense of that gold since defeating CM Punk for it at WrestleMania 42. And for Fatu, he's gunning to win his first World Championship in WWE, having introduced the lethal Tongan Death Grip as things have heated up between these two family members. Given the Usos' on-screen involvement in this issue, don't be surprised to see Jimmy and Jay have a role to play by the time all is said and done with Backlash.

In WWE Backlash 2026's other title match, Trick Williams puts his United States Championship on the line against the man he beat for that belt at WrestleMania 42, Sami Zayn. As fans continue to boo Sami and cheer for Trick, an underhand win for Zayn would certainly be one way to fully solidify the heel turn he's been leaning into in recent weeks and months.

While there's no title up for grabs, arguably the most intriguing match of Backlash is Iyo Sky vs Asuka, with these two long-time friends finally getting to go one-on-one on a PLE; something that was at one point discussed for WrestleMania 42. Unfortunately, the shock release of Kairi Sane means that she's no longer a part of this wider story, but, regardless of Kairi's presence or not, Iyo and Asuka should put on an absolute war if they're given a decent amount of time.

Speaking of heated rivalries, Seth Rollins and Bron Breakker have the first of what will likely be several big matches against each other over the summer. With Seth bringing Bron under his wing and forming The Vision one year ago, this is another case of a student trying to get one over on their former mentor. Of course, Logan Paul, Austin Theory, and Paul Heyman could all find themselves at ringside here to help swing things in Breakker's favor.

Rounding out the WWE Backlash 2026 card, it's Danhausen and a mystery partner taking on The Miz and Kit Wilson. Going into this one, everyone from Royce Keys to CM Punk to Shane McMahon has been speculated about as being Danhausen's tag team partner.
