Conclusion
To say that the Treo 650 is feature rich would be an understatement. In addition to the mainstay hardware and software capabilities we reviewed, hundreds of software packages and hacks exist for the device, ranging from games to the traditional Microsoft office applications. But is this smart phone's mix of capabilities really what users want?
Not so long ago, what was known as the Palm Pilot dominated the PDA category, a form factor largely created by what was then Palm Inc. The jury is thus still out with regard to which handheld device - if any - will dominate demand two to three years from now. Time will tell whether PalmOne is on the right convergence track with its Treo 650, or if the device merely represents a transition period as PalmOne continues to reinvent its handheld mix between PDAs and smart phones.
