8. DSLR Cameras
Rather than extensively repeat the information in the features chart and section on definitions and explanations, I’m going to talk more generally about each manufacturer’s DSLRs and briefly about each camera.
Canon
Canon has been in the camera business for quite some time. The company’s digital SLR line seems quite rational with each step up the ladder leading to a greater number of features and capabilities and with support for modern lenses and accessories remaining firm across products.
I’m a Canon DSLR freak or maybe "addict" is a better term. So, this section on Canon DSLRs is going to be somewhat more personal than the other sections.
30D

The 30D is the third in a line of pioneering DSLRs from Canon. Earlier models were the 20D and 10D. I still have my six megapixel 10D and use in on occasion just to keep it running smoothly. Photography magazines often run quality pictures submitted by readers. More often than not the photos were taken with 10, 20 or 30D DSLRs.
5D

My full 35mm frame 5D accompanies me just about everywhere I go. It takes great pictures that remind me of 35mm slides and negatives in terms of resolution and color quality. The 5D’s been around since Fall 2005 and, though prices have dropped, I’ve heard no hints that Canon plans to retire this solid pro/prosumer model any time soon.
