22. To Finish Up

Without expanding further on the intrinsic qualities of this camera, it must be admitted that the Canon EOS 300D marks the beginning of an era. Through its revolutionary price position, the camera has marked a change in the landscape in the digital world. From now on, there'll be a "before" and an "after" the Canon EOS 300D.

Yet although we can speak of a new era, even a turning point in the digital world, the development was predictable. After having conquered the compact market, manufacturers will have to attack the SLR market, since the economic logic is clearly viable. To the great pleasure of consumers, SLR cameras will not be long in filling the store shelves at better and better prices.

All that remains to be said is that the EOS 300D, as has been shown, is for the moment the digital camera that is the best value on the market. The images it produces are excellent, even if its functionalities are limited they are not too limited, and it is easy to use. In short, an exciting vintage, which makes the prospects for the year 2004, seem very bright.

The following pages show photographs taken under every type of condition using the 300D. They are generally not captioned, except for the word "retouched" or "noise when output." If this is not the case, a caption is there to make a specific point, a detail that showed up in the tests.
