Puffy vs Siena: At a glance

The Puffy Cloud and Siena Signature are two all-foam beds that offer firmer-than-average support. While both stand at 10" high and use gel-infused memory foam layers, there are some key differences, as we'll explore in our Puffy vs Siena overview.

The Siena Signature is one of our top recommendations for the best mattress for all sleepers because of its overall value for money and excellent support for back and stomach sleepers. The Puffy Cloud is slightly softer, yet it still delivers a keen comfort balance for back sleepers, in particular.

So, which should you choose? We'll be comparing the Puffy Cloud and the Siena Signature mattresses to see which is better for your sleep and budget. Notably, both are continuously discounted in the monthly mattress sales.

Puffy vs Siena: Price & trials

  • Neither brand uses a traditional MSRP, so savings are hard to gauge
  • A queen-size Puffy Cloud is $949, while a queen-size Siena Signature is $359
  • Puffy offers a lifetime warranty, while Siena offers a longer sleep trial

As Puffy and Siena use a 'total value' figure rather than a traditional MSRP, it's difficult to gauge the validity of the savings. On the other hand, they're both well below the average price for a queen — and you may even catch them among the best mattresses for under $1,000.

The evergreen Puffy mattress sale cuts up to $1,350 off sitewide, which drops the price of its entry-level Puffy Cloud Mattress to $949 in a queen. A permanent Siena mattress sale means you'll always pick up a queen Siena Signature for under $400.

In terms of extras, both mattresses come with free shipping and free returns, but their warranties, trials, and return policies differ. While Siena has a longer trial at 180 nights compared to Puffy's 101-night trial, Puffy offers a lifetime warranty while Siena's only lasts for 10 years.

The Puffy Cloud Mattress is always discounted. After up to $1,350 off, a queen-size sells for $949, which a $100 drop from the previous perma-sale price. We don't see this changing any time soon.

Siena Signature: twin now $179 at Siena

The Siena Signature Memory Foam Mattress is permanently up to 60% off, with a queen down to $359. But like Puffy, Siena doesn't go by a traditional MSRP, and sale prices rarely change.

Puffy vs Siena: Materials and Design

  • Both mattresses are 10" tall and have an all-foam design
  • The Puffy Cloud has four internal layers compared to Siena's two
  • Neither bed contains fiberglass, according to their respective brands

The Puffy Cloud stands at 10" tall, with four layers of foam manufactured from USA-made materials. The first layer is called the Climate Fiber, which is meant to boost comfort and breathability. Next is the 2" gel-infused Cooling Cloud Foam for heat dispersion and body-cradling pressure relief.

This layer is followed by another 2" layer of pressure-relieving foam for proper spinal support, and tops the final layer of Firm Core Support Foam, a 6" support layer of high-density foam. All four layers are sandwiched between a cooling cover made with Puffy's Cooling Cloud Technology and an anti-slip base cover.

The Siena Signature has a slightly different construction from the previous Siena Memory Foam Mattress. The design is more basic, with two internal foam layers instead of three. It's made up of a 2" memory foam comfort layer for pressure relief, a dense 8" block of stability foam, a polyester top cover, and a bottom shift-resistant cover.

Both brands use CertiPUR-US certified foams and claim their mattresses are fiberglass-free.

Puffy vs Siena: Support and Comfort

  • The medium-firm Puffy Cloud is endorsed by the American Chiropractic Association
  • We rate the Siena as 8/10 on the firmness scale, making it a firm bed
  • Neither mattress will be cushioned enough for strict side sleepers

First of all, if you enjoy the soft, traditional "hug" of memory foam, then neither the Puffy or Siena will offer you that feel. Both are on the firm side, with the Puffy being slightly softer at 7/10 (medium-firm) compared to Siena's firm 8/10. Both are the best memory foam mattresses to buy if you want support, thanks in part to their high-density foam layers.

Our tester for our Puffy Cloud mattress review praised the support it offers to back sleepers, but it may be too firm for side sleepers who crave deep pressure relief. Likewise, our Siena Memory Foam Mattress review praised the mattress for its firm support, labelling it as the best mattress for stomach sleepers.

In terms of motion isolation, both mattresses are excellent at limiting movement transfer. If edge support is a priority, we'd recommend the Siena over the Puffy.

Puffy vs Siena: Temperature regulation

  • Both mattresses kept our testers at a comfortable temperature
  • However, the Puffy's cooling cover was so slick, our covers would come off
  • For very hot sleepers, a specialist cooling mattress will be best

The Puffy Cloud maintained a comfortable sleep microclimate for our testers, but we did notice some heat retention in the areas where we lay. The cool-touch cover was an issue for us — it was too slick, to the point where our fitted sheet would slide off.

Likewise, our testers didn't overheat on the Siena, but we'd attribute that to the lack of sinkage more than the cooling prowess of the materials themselves. In either case, we'd sooner recommend a cooling mattress if you're prone to overheating at night.

You're a hot sleeper: While both Siena and Puffy mattresses sleep cool, Puffy's trademark cooling cover and airflow-enhancing layers offer ultra-cooling properties. (Just beware of the slickness of the cooling cover.)

You're a combi back/side sleeper: Our lead tester and his wife found it comfortable and supportive for side and back sleeping.

You have back pain: This mattress is endorsed by the American Chiropractic Association and is designed to alleviate back pain.

Buy the Siena Signature Mattress if...

You're a front sleeper: The firm Siena Memory Foam is perfect for keeping stomach sleepers' spines properly aligned.

You have a tighter budget: Thanks to a permanent half-price sale, you can always pick a queen up for under $400. It's our top-rated budget mattress.

You have mobility issues: We found the Siena's edge support to be strong, making it easier to get in and out of bed.
