Pakistan go into this match on the back of a huge 10-wicket victory over India in their first game. And it was a vital win for many reasons: for one, it ended a run of five straight defeats against their local rivals in T20 World Cup games; but more importantly, it gave them the upper hand in terms of qualifying for the semi finals of this tournament.

Today's game against New Zealand likely represents their next hardest match after India; neither Scotland or Namibia are likely to trouble them much, and Afghanistan are also beatable. A win here will go a long way to confirming their place in the last four.

For New Zealand, things are more complicated, and whatever happens their qualification may hinge on their own game against India, which doesn't take place until Sunday (October 31). Still, a win here would make things a lot easier for them.

A further side plot to today's game comes from the fact that New Zealand pulled out of a planned tour to Pakistan in September, just hours before the first match. That led some Pakistan players to complain about the late cancellation on social media, and potentially gives an extra edge to this game.

As far as the on-field action goes, New Zealand will look to the likes of captain Kane Williamson, Martin Guptill and Devon Conway for their runs and the formidable strike-bowling partnership of Trent Boult and Tim Southee for wickets.

However, they received a blow before the game with the news that fast bowler Lockie Ferguson has been ruled out of the entire tournament due to a calf injury. Adam Milne will replace him in the squad.

Pakistan have won the toss and will bowl. Here's how they line up:

Pakistan: 1 Babar Azam (capt.) 2 Mohammad Rizwan (wk) 3 Fakhar Zaman 4 Mohammad Hafeez 5 Shoaib Malik 6 Asif Ali 7 Shadab Khan 8 Imad Wasim 9 Hasan Ali 10 Haris Rauf 11 Shaheen Shah Afridi

New Zealand: 1 Martin Guptill, 2 Tim Seifert (wk), 3 Kane Williamson, 4 Devon Conway, 5 Glenn Phillips, 6 James Neesham, 7 Daryl Mitchell, 8 Mitchell Santner, 9 Ish Sodhi, 10 Tim Southee, 11 Trent Boult

This could be a close game, and there's a lot riding on it. So here's how to watch the Pakistan vs New Zealand live stream at the T20 World Cup.
