Blues boss Potter was popular during his time on the East Sussex coast, helping the club progress and play attractive football. He will no doubt receive a warm reception from the home fans. However, his new team need a Premier League win after draws against Brentford and Man Utd. They go into the weekend 5th in the table, behind Newcastle on goal difference.

Chelsea did get a victory in the Champions League on Tuesday. A Mateo Kovačić strike and a stunner from Kai Havertz meant they beat RB Salzburg and are now guaranteed to progress into the competition's Round of 16.

The Seagulls, meanwhile, have suffered a huge slump in form since Potter departed. They have not had a win in 5 games under new manager Roberto De Zerbi. They did though receive a boost this week, with Argentine midfielder Alexis Mac Allister signing a new deal that will keep him at the club until 2025. Belgian Leandro Trossard is also causing problems for opposition defences. Brighton may not yet be getting the wins under De Zerbi, but they have been unlucky on a few occasions and their performances probably merit more points than they have got.

Chelsea remain without Kalidou Koulibaly, Reece James and N’Golo Kante, who are all out injured. As well as long term absentees Jakub Moder and Kaoru Mitoma, there are fitness doubts around Adam Lallana and Joel Veltman for Brighton.

History is on the side of the visitors, who have not lost on their last 5 visits to the Amex Stadium. This includes a 1-1 draw back in January.

Here's how they line up:

Brighton: Sanchez, Estupinan, Dunk, Webster, March, Mac Allister, Caicedo, Trossard, Gross, Mitoma, Lallana.

Chelsea: Arrizabalaga, Chalobah, Thiago Silva, Cucurella, Pulisic, Gallagher, Mount, Kovacic, Sterling, Loftus-Cheek, Havertz.
