Finding one pillow that exceeds all others, suits all sleeping positions, and therefore deserves the coveted title of Best Pillow, is a feat that's trickier to achieve than it sounds. We narrowed down our shortlist to adjustable pillows, because, as the name suggests, they can be customized to each sleeper's preferences.

And of the many headrests we've tested this year, there isn't an option more deserving than the Coop Original Adjustable. It's an all-round exceptional pillow, scoring 5 out of 5 in the Coop Original Adjustable Pillow review in all but one parameter (and even then it was only short by half a point).

Luxurious comfort for all — meet our Best Pillow

What makes the Coop Original Adjustable great, and more specifically, better than all others? A combination of quality materials and design, comfort, durability and versatility, all of which we noticed when reviewing the classic shape (it also comes in a crescent and cut out shape) of this pillow.

The fill is crafted from a blend of contouring cross-cut memory foam and cushioning microfiber, a combination that delivers a luxurious, down-like feel and support for your head, neck and shoulders. This fill sits inside a stretch polyester liner, over which is a soft, breathable cover.

The key to the Coop Original Adjustable working for all sleeping positions comes in its adjustability; there's even an extra half pound of fill. If you're a side sleeper who prefers a firmer pillow and needs a slightly higher loft, add a little fill. Stomach sleepers who require a lower loft and a softer feel can just remove fill as needed. That's the beauty of the Original Adjustable, almost everyone can achieve the perfect feel for their sleeping style.

And though this is not a dedicated cooling pillow (and it's an undeniable fact that memory foam is a material typically known to trap heat), our tester didn't feel hot during the entire review period.

One big reason for this is the jacquard knit pillowcase made from breathable Lulltra fabric — comprising of 60% polyester and 40% bamboo-derived viscose rayon. Another is the way the fill is designed; the cross-cut memory foam allows for more airflow than a single foam block, while the microfibers in the blend help to stop the fill from clumping.

That same fill is also hypoallergenic and non-toxic, making the Coop Original Adjustable an ideal choice for sleepers who crave the dreamy comfort of natural down, without being troubled by allergies.

Our one gripe is that it requires regular fluffing to maintain its shape and support. While this became a nighttime ritual for our reviewer before hitting the bed, the fact that it does flatten easily led to the Coop Original Adjustable scoring 4.5/5 stars for build quality. However, it's testament to how great this pillow is that this was the only area it didn't score 5/5 stars.

It's also good value, starting at just $85 MSRP for classic shape. Although right now in the Black Friday bedding sales, it's down to $63.75. and Coop is also known for its industry-best sleep benefit package for pillows, which includes a 100-night trial, 5-year warranty and free shipping — the best we've come across to date. Although, if you're shopping on a tighter budget, consider the Beckham Hotel Collection pillows, which are down to $59.99 for a pack of two.

Maintenance is easy too, since you can pop the pillowcase in a washing machine on a gentle cold cycle, and then tumble-dry.

Overall, we think you're getting exceptional quality, hotel-style plushness, comfort and support, and great benefits for the price your pay when you pick the Coop Sleep Goods Original Adjustable, and that's why it's our best pillow for all sleeping styles.
