I wasn't planning on buying a spork this week. But IKEA just launched the SOLUPPGÅNG collection, a 23-piece limited-edition outdoor range that starts at $4, and somehow a double-ended fork-and-spoon combo ended up in my cart.
SOLUPPGÅNG (it means "sunrise" in Swedish) is IKEA's take on outdoor living, and it's heavily inspired by Scandinavian open-air culture and Japanese urban-outdoor style. Think warm earth tones, natural materials like bamboo, and enameled steel
The range is designed by Ola Wihlborg and Darja Nordberg, and as someone who loves Nordic living and Japanese culture, this intersection in design is exactly up my street. Better yet, it just so happens that I'm in the process of installing a new IKEA kitchen in my home.
Take a look at the full collection, and make sure you grab some items before this limited-edition drop sells out. Now I just need to go and convince my wife that we need sporks in our lives...
