We're in the full swing of summer, and the TV lineup is just as hot, with new shows premiering this week on Netflix, Peacock and more of the best streaming services.
This week's slate serves up comfort, crime and coastal intrigue, so everybody in your household should be satisfied. One of TV's most heartfelt comedies, "Trying," returns for season 5. Meanwhile, the reboot of "Little House on the Prairie" puts a grittier spin on the wholesome family saga, "The Five-Star Weekend" stirs up old friendships and buried resentments, and "The Westies" digs into a brutal era of New York's gang wars.

‘Trying’ season 5 (Apple TV)
The vibes: Feel-good but not conflict-free.
The plot: Nikki (Esther Smith) and Jason (Rafe Spall) have finally settled into family life, but their domestic bliss doesn’t stay blissful for long. Kat (Charlotte Riley), the biological mother of Princess and Tyler, reappears to throw everything into disarray. It’s an awkward reunion, but with the same British wit and warmth that’s made “Trying” one of the coziest shows on TV.

‘The Five Star Weekend’ (Peacock)
The vibes: Peak wine mom drama with plenty of rosé and emotional fallout.
The plot: Jennifer Garner leads this glossy miniseries based on Elin Hilderbrand’s bestselling novel as celebrity cook Hollis Shaw, whose life unravels after her husband’s death. Hoping to bury her grief, she invites four friends for a picture-perfect weekend that quickly devolves into long-simmering resentments, secrets and the kind of rich-people dysfunction that looks especially good against an ocean view.

‘Little House on the Prairie’ (Netflix)
The vibes: The classic frontier family tale gets a grittier, historically honest reboot.
The plot: The Ingalls family packs up their wagon and heads for Kansas, chasing dreams of a brighter future — only to discover the reality is much harder than the myth. Rebecca Sonnenshine's reimagining explores survival while bringing Osage voices into the story for balance and truth.

‘Love Is Blind UK: After the Altar’ (Netflix)
The vibes: A reality tea party with all the receipts.
The plot: Filmed a few weeks after the reunion, this three-episode special checks in on “Love Is Blind: UK” season 2 cast members, including Megan and Kieran, the last married standing. They host a birthday bash that, you guessed it, stirs up drama. “After the Altar” will feature relationship updates, awkward ex encounters and one long-awaited showdown.

‘The Westies’ (MGM+)
The vibes: If “Peaky Blinders” moved to New York in the 1980s
The plot: As construction of the Jacob Javits Convention Center transforms Manhattan's West Side in the ‘80s, Westies boss Eamon Sweeney (J. K. Simmons) fights to keep control of the gang's financial stake while rising lieutenant Jimmy Roarke (Tom Brittney) pushes into the cocaine trade. But NYPD officer Glenn Keenan (Titus Welliver), FBI agent Birdie Polk (Jessica Frances Dukes) and rivals are circling, promising a bloody clash.
