As the days grow shorter and a crisp chill settles into the air, there’s no better time to curl up on the couch with new TV shows premiering on Netflix, Prime Video and other streaming services, as well as cable and broadcast channels.

“A Man on the Inside” returns for a second season with Ted Danson’s Charles Nieuwendyk navigating another tangled undercover case, while the heartwarming special “Chris Hemsworth: A Road Trip to Remember” takes us along for a poignant family journey.

Fantasy fans can dive into “The Mighty Nein,” where a ragtag group of misfits tackles a world-altering threat, and Keeley Hawes proves once again why she’s queen of thrillers in “The Assassin.” Here's our guide on the top new TV shows to check out this week.

So much to watch, so little time! As far as TV shows, I'm still working my way through Netflix's new psychological thriller "The Beast in Me" and am really enjoying this season of "Loot" on Apple TV.

Set years after “The Legend of Vox Machina,” “The Mighty Nein” picks up with a band of fugitives who’d much prefer staying out of trouble … but fate has other plans. When a relic capable of warping reality slips into dangerous hands, this unlikely crew is shoved into the kind of responsibility they’ve spent most of their lives dodging.

The new animated series leans moodier and more character-focused, backed by a cast that includes Mark Strong, Ming-Na Wen and Alan Cumming. Ready or not, these misfits might be the only ones who can keep the realm from tearing itself apart.

Episodes 1-3 premiere Wednesday, Nov. 19 at 3 a.m. ET on Prime Video

‘The Assassin’ (AMC Plus)

The queen of British thrillers, Keeley Hawes ("Bodyguard," "Line of Duty"), stars in this series from Harry and Jack Williams as a retired contract killer whose peaceful Greek exile unravels the moment her son Edward (Freddie Highmore) arrives demanding answers. Instead, he gets a front-row seat to the past she’s been dodging.

What follows is a sharp, darkly funny sprint across Europe, where shootouts alternate with mother-son banter. Complicated loyalties, eccentric billionaires and one literal thumb drive are all in the mix in a six-part chase that’ll keep you on the edge of your seat. The series has already aired in the U.K. and is now hitting U.S. shores

Episodes 1-2 premiere Thursday, Nov. 20 at 3 a.m. ET on AMC Plus

Mike Schur’s crime comedy returns with Ted Danson’s Charles Nieuwendyk trading retirement-home espionage for academia, slipping undercover as a college professor when the school’s president (Max Greenfield) is hit by a curious blackmail scheme.

The suspects pile up fast, including a swaggering billionaire alum (Gary Cole), but Charles finds himself equally distracted by free-spirited music teacher Mona (Mary Steenburgen), who stirs feelings he’d long shelved. Charles can crack cases, but will he crack open his heart, too?

Chris Hemsworth swaps hammer for heart in his most personal documentary yet. After his father Craig’s Alzheimer’s diagnosis, the pair hop on motorcycles and hit the roads of Australia, revisiting the places and people that shaped their lives.

Along the way, they explore the science of social connection and reminiscence therapy, proving that shared memories and human bonds can be powerful medicine. The documentary blends laughter, love and the kind of moments that stick with you long after the ride ends.
