For much of the men's NCAA tournament, Michigan have looked a class apart, dominating opponent after opponent. That was again the case in the Final Four as they overpowered Arizona, securing a 91-73 victory that saw them become the first team in tournament history to score at least 90 points and win by double digits in five-consecutive games.
Center Aday Mara was the star of the show with a career-high 26 points, but there was some concern about the fitness of All-America forward Yaxel Lendeborg who managed just 14 minutes due to an ankle injury. The Wolverines will hope the 23-year-old will have shaken off the knock as they look to win a first national championship since 1989.
Standing in their way are a UConn team that is headed back to the national championship game for the third time in the last four years. The Huskies battled their way to a 71-62 victory over the Illinois Fighting Illini in the Final Four, with Tarris Reed Jr. hitting 17 points and freshman Braylon Mullins scoring 15.
The Big East champions have ridden their luck at times, needed heroics from Mullins to get past Duke in the Elite Eight, but will now play for the seventh title since 1999, and third under head coach Dan Hurley.
