The World Cup is back and this season there will be a total of 75 individual events, beginning with the giant slaloms in Austria in October and ending with the Finals in Norway next March. There will also be a pause in the circuit from February 6-22 when the Winter Olympics takes place in Italy.

The addition of Milano Cortina 2026 makes it a hugely important season and there will be plenty of stars determined to win globes and medals. On the men’s side, the man to beat once again will be Marco Odermatt. The Swiss star currently holds four titles (overall, downhill, Super-G and giant slalom) and is bidding to win the Crystal Globe for the fifth time.

Hoping to challenge Odermatt for the overall title are a mix of established names and some rising stars. Norway’s Henrik Kristoffersen was runner-up last season and has a wealth of experience, as does Switzerland’s Loïc Meillard who was third overall. Then there’s Franjo von Allmen, the reigning downhill world champion, who at 24 is seen as one of the sport’s rising stars.

In the women’s competition, the battle for the Crystal Globe is expected to be a tight one between reigning champion Federica Brignone and two former overall champs in Lara Gut-Behrami and Mikaela Shiffrin. Italian Brignone is sidelined with injury for the first few months of the season, which her rivals will hope to take advantage of.

With 40-year-old Lindsey Vonn setting her sights on more Olympic glory and 18-year-old prodigy Lara Colturi looking to add to her tally of World Cup podiums, it’s set to be another hugely entertaining season.
