Prime Video top 10 movies — here’s the 3 worth streaming this week (Jan. 26 - Feb. 1)
These are the movies worth adding to your watchlist
Winter Storm Fern is currently sweeping across more than 30 states, leaving much of the country buried under heavy snow. If you’re literally snowed in or staying home to ride out this intense weather, there’s no better time to refresh your watchlist. A few quality movies can help ease those January blues that many people feel right now (I’m definitely counting down the days until a new month).
Prime Video’s top 10 list is a good place to look when searching for a new movie, but that doesn’t mean every trending title you see is worth your time. To keep your watchlist engaging and free from duds, we took a look through the streamer's rankings and picked these three movies you should stream this week: an Oscar-nominated vampire thriller, a fun sci-fi action flick, and an underrated action-adventure movie based on a true story.
This list is based on the Prime Video top 10 U.S movies as of Monday, January 26, 2026.
Best movies in the Prime Video top 10
‘Sinners’ (2025)
“Sinners” being No. 1 on Prime Video is no shock given this critically acclaimed vampire thriller just earned a record-breaking 16 Oscar nominations. Breaking the record for the most nominations only cements its status as a masterpiece, and Ryan Coogler deserves every bit of praise as an incredibly talented director. “Sinners” isn’t just my favorite movie of 2025 for its standout performances (particularly Michael B. Jordan in his dual role) but also for its musical score, with stunning sound design elevated by Miles Caton’s voice. This movie will never be overrated.
Set in 1932 Mississippi, “Sinners” follows twin brothers Elijah “Smoke” and Elias “Stack” Moore (both played by Jordan) as they leave Chicago and return to their hometown to start anew. They buy a sawmill and juke joint, recruiting local musicians to help them build a life. However, their plans are immediately challenged by the arrival of a powerful vampire. Alongside an ensemble cast — including Hailee Steinfeld, Miles Caton, Jack O’Connell, Wunmi Mosaku, Jayme Lawson, and Delroy Lindo — the brothers must confront forces beyond their control in this masterful horror-thriller.

‘Ready Player One’ (2018)
Steven Spielberg isn’t usually a name I’d link to guilty pleasures. The legendary director has made some of the most influential movies in cinema history, yet “Ready Player One” stands out among his work as a full-on exercise in pure cinematic escapism. Adapted from Ernest Cline’s novel, the story unfolds inside a sprawling virtual reality universe packed with dazzling visuals and pop culture nods. This alone makes it a thrill to catch all the hidden references and familiar characters sprinkled throughout the action.

“Ready Player One” takes place in the year 2045, where most of humanity spends its time inside a massive virtual reality universe called the OASIS. When the OASIS’s creator, James Halliday (Mark Rylance), dies, he leaves behind a challenge: find a hidden digital Easter egg that will grant the winner his immense fortune and full control of the virtual world. Young gamer Wade Watts (Tye Sheridan) enters the competition under his avatar Parzival and must complete a series of quests while competing against other players and a powerful corporation determined to seize control of the OASIS for itself.

‘In the Heart of the Sea’ (2015)
Sometimes a movie’s Rotten Tomatoes score just doesn’t do it justice, and I’ll stand on that hill: “In the Heart of the Sea” is an underrated action-adventure flick. Released in 2015 and based on a true story, it’s far from perfect, but it’s still a solid adventure, brought to life by a talented cast and striking visuals that help cover its weaker moments. At just over two hours, it’s plenty of time for an enjoyable evening especially if you’re snowed in and need something to pass the time. Don’t let the reviews sway you on this one.
This action-adventure follows the ill‑fated 1820 voyage of the Nantucket whaling ship Essex. First mate Owen Chase (Chris Hemsworth) and Captain George Pollard Jr. (Benjamin Walker) set sail along with crew members like second mate Matthew Joy (Cillian Murphy) and cabin boy Thomas Nickerson (Tom Holland). When a massive sperm whale strikes and sinks the Essex far from land, the surviving sailors are left adrift in small boats, struggling to survive. Decades later, an older Tom Nickerson (Brendan Gleeson) recounts the ordeal to writer Herman Melville (Ben Whishaw).
