The weekend is a perfect time to catch up on the latest Netflix shows you didn’t have time to binge-watch during the working week. However, with the popular streaming service always adding new series for subscribers to enjoy, it can be tricky to know which are worth streaming and which can be skipped.
That’s why I’m taking a deep dive into Netflix’s April 2026 slate and picking out a trio of recently released TV shows that make for perfect weekend watching.
Variety is the name of the game here, with picks that include the latest season of a chaotic reality show that puts couples to the “ultimate test” and a new true crime documentary that explores a sinister cult, led by a controversial figure claiming to be a prophet. If you want to settle down to some Netflix binge-watching this weekend, here are three new shows worth considering.

Love some trash reality TV? Don’t worry, this is a judgment-free zone, and there’s no shame in adding “Temptation Island” to your weekend watchlist. The returning series promises to once again “put relationships to the ultimate test,” which is a fancy way of saying its format is carefully designed to create dramatic arguments and chaotic moments. This season dropped in full on Friday (April 10), so you don’t need to wait a week between cliffhangers.
The premise of this reality show is simple: four couples facing commitment issues are whisked away to a picturesque tropical setting, and then separated from one another for two weeks. During this time, each member of the couple lives alongside a group of attractive singletons, who will seek to tempt them away from their partner. After the two weeks are up, they’re reunited with their original partner and must decide whether to commit to their SO, leave with somebody else, or walk away from the experience totally single.

‘Trust Me: The False Prophet’
If you’re willing to put your faith in your fellow Netflix subscribers, then “Trust Me: The False Prophet” should be on your radar. This new four-part true crime docuseries rocketed to the No. 1 most-watched show on Netflix within just 48 hours of its debut, and while it doesn’t reinvent the popular genre by most accounts, it’s a shocking exploration of a highly manipulative figure.
In “Trust Me: The False Prophet,” a cult expert and her videographer husband take on the difficult (and potentially dangerous) task of infiltrating an FLDS (Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints) community in Utah. Their leader is Samuel Bateman, who claims to be the successor to Warren Jeffs, an imprisoned cult leader, convicted of child sex offences. As the duo embeds themselves in Bateman’s inner circle, they discover disturbing evidence and seek to help the indoctrinated members see the truth.

‘XO, Kitty’ season 3
If you’ve yet to watch “XO, Kitty,” you’ve got some catching up to do, as the third season arrived on Netflix at the start of the month. Even more than a week later, it’s sticking around in the platform’s top 10 most-watched list, proving its appeal. In Tom’s Guide's “XO, Kitty” season 3 review, Josh Bell noted that it’s a step up from the lukewarm second season, praising the latest eight episodes for their storytelling and solid character development.
A spin-off from the “To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before” movie franchise, “XO Kitty” season 3 sees the eponymous lead (played by Anna Cathcart) begin her senior year with big plans to make it perfect. Of course, even the best plans don't always work out as expected. Soon, Kitty has to make some big decisions about her future and figure out her relationship with Min Ho (Sang Heon Lee). This teen drama is glossy, but surprisingly well-regarded by critics.
