Hulu is one of the best streaming services for watching new movies. Not only does it regularly add classics to its library, but, because it's owned by Disney, it's the streaming home for new releases from several Disney-owned studios ... just not the main one. Yes, that means you get "Predator: Badlands," but you don't get "Zootopia 2." The good news is that it's also the streaming home for new releases from a handful of notable indie studios, ones that often produce award season darlings.

So let's not delay. Here are the three new to Hulu movies you need to stream this weekend. For more recommendations, check out the full list of everything new to Hulu in March 2026.

What's it about? Margaret Simon (Abby Ryder Fortson) is an 11-year-old who has just moved from New York City to the Jersey suburbs. When she reveals to her new teacher, Mr. Benedict (Echo Kellum), that she doesn't like religious holidays because of her interfaith parents, he gives her an assignment that sends her down a path of discovery about her family and her spirituality at a pivotal time in her life.

Why you should watch it: "Are You There God? It's Me, Margaret" is, on its face, an exploration of faith, family and spirituality, but it's also an exploration of puberty and other young-adolescent anxieties. It's based on a beloved novel, but is almost just as beloved by almost everyone who's seen it. Rachel McAdams is a particular highlight of the movie as Margaret's mother, Barbara.

Genre: Political thriller

What's it about? "Anniversary" starts with the 25th wedding anniversary of a liberal Georgetown professor, Ellen (Diane Lane), and her husband, Paul (Kyle Chandler). But when their son, Josh (Dylan O'Brien), arrives with his new fiancée, Liz (Phoebe Dynevor), Ellen realizes that Liz is one of her former students with whom she clashed over Liz's fascist leanings. As the movie progresses, it becomes clear that the student, not the teacher, is the one who holds all the power.

Why you should watch it: If you haven't gotten enough of "The Handmaid's Tale," this dystopian political thriller seems to have some similarities. Plus, with a cast that features Lane, Chandler, Dynevor, OBrien, Zoey Deutch and Mckenna Grace, there's a lot to like at first glance.
