The AirPods Pro 3 are great, but if you're looking for something that blocks even more noise and does it with a secure, and perhaps more comfortable fit, then the QuietComfort Ultra Earbuds gen 2 from Bose are a great option. One problem — they're usually about $50 more expensive than Apple's flagship earbuds.

Not so right now, however! You can currently pick up the QuietComfort Ultra Earbuds gen 2 for $249 at Amazon. That's a $50 saving, and, crucially, makes them the same price as the AirPods Pro 3. If given the choice between the two, I know where I'd be dropping my $249.

The Bose QuietComfort Ultra Earbuds gen 2 bring some big improvements to the table. They fit even better than the outgoing model, contain even better ANC, and there are increased sound modes for even more immersive listening. Six hours of battery might not be earth-shattering, but you can now charge the case wirelessly. This is the bud's lowest price yet.

The QuietComfort Ultra Earbuds gen 2 are my earbuds of choice when I want something to block out as much noise as possible. They live in my pocket whenever I leave the house, standing ready to guard my ears from the sounds of bus trips and noisy train carriages.

Even though my AirPods Pro 3 connect effortlessly with my iPhone and bring a whole bunch of features to the table, there are a couple of key ways that the QuietComfort Ultra Earbuds beat them out.

The first is the ANC performance. The AirPods Pro 3 are very good, but the Bose buds are better — they're our pick of the best noise-canceling earbuds for a reason. They don't struggle so much with higher range sounds, so you won't hear voices and other chatter. Both are good for bus engines and other low-range rumbles, of course.

Secondly, I'm a big fan of the way that the QuietComfort Ultra Earbuds fit. The AirPods line has always been one that my larger ears have struggled with, but the extra fitting wings in the Bose box make sure they stay in without any problems at all.

While I'll concede that the sound and battery life of the AirPods are better, it's not enough to make me drop my QuietComfort Ultra Earbuds recommendation. When the prices are this neck and neck, I know which buds I'd choose every single time — the QC Ultra Earbuds gen 2.
