3. Battery In The Back, Connections On The Right And In The Front
The battery of the W511A plugs into the back. Also on the back are the docking station connection, protected by a rubber dust cover, and the VGA port.

Gigabyte places its battery in the back.
The battery securing mechanism is designed to allow easy removal of the battery with only one hand. Two sliding buttons are involved, with and without springs.

The battery can be removed with one hand
The majority of the connection ports for peripheral devices are found on the right side of the case. The FireWire port is the IEEE-1394a version, with a transfer rate of up to 400 Mbits/s, only half that of FireWire 800 (IEEE-1394b).

Most of the connections of the W511A notebook are found on the right-hand side.
In this market segment, the dust cover over the PC card slot is a rare bonus. Plastic dummy cards are the norm, which are easily lost.

A tidy solution: a cover protecting the PC card slot from dust.
