Best iPhone XS and XS Max Deals

Apple's iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max are the fastest phones on the market. While iOS diehards may be tempted to buy Cupertino's new kit at whatever the price, you may want to think twice before you mash that buy button.

The iPhone XS and XS Max are Apple's — and the industry's — priciest smartphones with prices that start at $999 and quickly reach $1,449. Sure, Apple announced price cuts on its older iPhones and the $749 iPhone XR will go on sale later this month, but Apple's XS phones demand a high premium.

That said, a small handful of retailers are discounting Apple's new A12-based smartphones and we're rounding up the best deals below so you can have your new iPhone without paying an Apple tax. And remember, you can always trade-in your current iPhone 8 or iPhone X to save a few extra bucks.

Paying $0 for a new iPhone seems like a fanboy's dream come true, but that's precisely what Sprint is promising. The sale was supposed to expire on September 27, but it's still available on Sprint's site as of early October. Shoppers can get the base iPhone XS for $0 with trade-in. Here's the small print you should know. First, you must lease the phone via Sprint's 18-month Sprint Flex plan. After your lease is over, you can return it and upgrade to a new model or buy it via one lump payment or via 6 more monthly payments. As for the eligible trade-in phones, they include: iPhone X, iPhone 8 Plus, iPhone 8, iPhone 7, iPhone 7 Plus, Samsung Galaxy S9, Samsung Galaxy S9+, LG G7 ThinQ, Samsung Galaxy S8, Samsung Galaxy S8+, Samsung Galaxy S8 Active, Samsung Galaxy Note 8, Google Pixel 2, or the Google Pixel 2XL. If you have your heart set on the iPhone XS Max, Sprint once again has your back. You can get Apple's big-screen iPhone for just $4.17/month via the same above-mentioned criteria.

AT&T customers looking for an iPhone deal will need a family member or friend to receive a discount. Customers (existing or new) who add a new line of service and purchase a new iPhone X, XS or XS Max will receive an iPhone 8 or iPhone 8 Plus 64GB at no additional cost. Alternatively, you can get a $700 credit towards the purchase of another Apple device like the iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus, iPhone X, XS, or XS Max.

If you have an old iPhone you're willing to trade in, Verizon is guaranteeing a minimum $100 credit when you trade-in select phones. The eligibility list includes multiple phones from the iPhone SE through the Galaxy S4. Alternatively, add a new line of service and you'll get $300 off your iPhone purchase. Verizon is also taking 25 percent off select Beats headphones when you purchase a new iPhone.

New and existing customers who get the iPhone XS will get up to $300 off their new phone if they trade in their old iPhone. If you have an iPhone 6 Plus or older, you'll get $100 off (this includes the 1st-gen iPhone). If you have an iPhone 6s or 6s Plus, you'll get $200 off, and if you have an iPhone 8 or iPhone 7 series handheld, you'll get the full $300 back. Just keep in mind that T-Mobile requires very high down payments on some of the new iPhones.

AT&T, Verizon, and Sprint customers who buy and activate their new iPhone XS or iPhone XS Max at a Walmart store will get $100 off the cost of their new phone. This offer is valid in-store only through November 21. Just keep in mind that if you buy and activate on Sprint, you'll get that iPhone XS for free.

MetroPCS has one of the best dollar-off discounts you'll find on Apple's new phones. The prepaid carrier has the iPhone XS for $799 ($200 off) and the iPhone XS Max for $899 ($200 off).

Xfinity Mobile

Get your iPhone XS or iPhone XS Max on Xfinity Mobile and you'll get a chunky $300 back in your pocket. You'll need to activate a new line and port your number to Xfinity Mobile by September 30, but otherwise the deal applies to both XS phones. The $300 is returned in the form of a gift card.

US Mobile

Founded in 2015, US Mobile is an MVNO service that's putting some heat under the feet of mainstream networks. The carrier is offering anyone who brings an iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max, or iPhone XR a $400 service credit. There are a few steps you must take to get the deal. First, you have to purchase US Mobile's Starter Kit ($3.99) and enter code "CHEAP400" during checkout. The kit contains a "Super LTE" SIM, which you'll insert into your iPhone. Upon activating service, you'll be prompted again to enter coupon code "CHEAP400", at which point you'll be done with the process. The "Super LTE" SIM relies on Verizon's network for service. The deal is available to customers activating a new line or porting an existing number.

Apple Store

Last, but not least, you can pre-order Apple's new iPhone XS ($999) and XS Max ($1,099) direct from the Apple Store. Sure, you'll pay full price for the phones, but if you have a current iPhone you can trade-in, the Apple Store is giving up to $525 in instant trade-in credit toward the purchase of your new iPhone. If you're an iPhone X owner, Apple currently has one of the best iPhone X trade-in rates we've seen.
