Memorial Day is still a week away, but some retailers have already started discounting everything from OLEDs to QLEDs. I should know, too — I've been tracking the top TV deals from places like Amazon and Best Buy for the last several weeks.

As with all Memorial Day TV sales, the steepest discounts can be found on models from last year. Don't let that throw you off, though; these TVs are still every bit as good as they were when they first hit shelves.

My top early Memorial Day TV deals

Roku 55" Plus Series 4K Mini-LED TV
Save $130
Roku 55" Plus Series 4K Mini-LED TV: was $499 now $369 at Best Buy

If you're shopping Memorial Day sales for a super-affordable TV with an emphasis on simple, easy streaming, this Roku Plus Series deal ought to be at the top of your list. Its modest array of Mini-LEDs allows for better contrast control than what you'll find on cheaper TVs with edge-lit displays, and thanks to its built-in Roku functionality, the Plus Series is very easy to use. Not only is this the cheapest TV on this list, it's also my pick for people who just want to start streaming as soon and as easily as possible.

Hisense 55" U65QF 4K Mini-LED TV
Save $150
Hisense 55" U65QF 4K Mini-LED TV: was $549 now $399 at Amazon

Prices could certainly change between now and next weekend, but I'm willing to bet you won't find a 55-inch, Mini-LED TV for less this Memorial Day. This TV's best feature is its backlighting, as Mini-LEDs aren't easy to come by for $399. It's also one of the brightest TVs we've tested in its class, making it a great pick for people who do a fair amount of viewing during the day. It comes with Amazon's Fire TV smart platform, which synergizes with select Alexa-integrated devices you might have at home.

TCL 55" QM5K Mini-LED 4K TV
Save $249.50
TCL 55" QM5K Mini-LED 4K TV: was $698.50 now $449 at Best Buy

Like the previously mentioned Hisense U65QF, the QM5K's best feature is its entry-level Mini-LED backlighting. This is a Best Buy exclusive model, so don't expect to find it on sale anywhere else this Memorial Day. I recommend this set over the Hisense U65QF if you'd rather have Google TV in your next set instead of Amazon's Fire TV software. It's a great choice for people who care about picture quality but who'd rather not settle for a bottom-of-the-barrel LED TV from brands like Insignia or Pioneer.

LG 65" C5 4K OLED TV
Save $1,300
LG 65" C5 4K OLED TV: was $2,699 now $1,399 at Best Buy

As mentioned, we awarded this OLED TV with a rare five-star rating for its sensational performance, its class-leading selection of features (especially for gamers) and its approachable price point. The C5 delivers all of the benefits we've come to expect from OLED displays, but its design, software and overall experience are the result of LG's excellent engineering. Its successor, the LG C6, is only an incremental upgrade, so why not spend half the money on the C5 instead?
