It can often be a challenge to keep our floors clean, germ-free, and spotless. And if, like me, you take pride in having shiny hard wood or tiled floors, you'll probably be getting out the mop and bucket more frequently. But even if you’ve learned the skill of how to mop your floors properly, I could never escape the odd dirty streak.
That was until I came across this clever cleaning tool that not only keeps my water clean, but floors streak-free. Result. What’s more, this is considered more hygienic in the long-term, as you'll never spread germs around the home.
So what exactly is this unusual cleaning hack?
Spin mop and dual bucket
If there’s one gripe I’ve always had after mopping, it's being left with streaks or dirty marks on the floors. Not only do they look unsightly, but it defeats the entire purpose, as you're technically using the same (filthy) mop water to clean your floors.
But once I started using my spin mop and dual bucket, this totally changed the game for me. The concept is ever so simple — a two-bucket system for clean and dirty water, with a rotating spin mop to wring out the water for you. And while such buckets have been around on the market for a long time, these now seem to be taking off on social media.
This dual bucket set includes a microfiber mop that has the ability to rotate 360 degrees to reach deep into corners. It has a dual bucket to separate clean and dirty water. Plus, it includes a built-in wringer/pedal that allows for hands-free wringing, while a Splash Guard contains any splashes inside the bucket.
First, let’s talk about the spinning mop. Unlike traditional mops where you’ll need to manually push and wring out the water, this spin mop rotates 360 degrees in the bucket’s built-in wringer. Not only does this ensure most of the water is squeezed out thoroughly, but will save you from breaking a sweat.
I love how this takes minimal effort to wring out, and there are even certain models that come with a built-in pedal to do the job (I might have to upgrade!). Additionally, the spin mop comes with removable microfiber cloth heads that are better for picking up dirt and easily get into awkward corners.

Perhaps what I love the most is never having to deal with dirty streaks again. This is thanks to its dual-chamber bucket that separates clean water solution from dirty water. Essentially, this is more hygienic, as it lowers the risk of spreading germs around using the same dirty water.
Since using this, my floors have never looked cleaner, and I now swear by this clever spin mop and dual bucket to get the job done. In fact, I wish I had bought one sooner.
