The 13th edition of the ICC Women's Cricket World Cup begins this coming Tuesday and is co-hosted by India and Sri-Lanka. This year's World Cup marks a historic milestone as it'll be the last time we see the eight-team format in place before the expansion to ten teams takes place in 2029.
This year's World Cup will also be the first time we see an all-female panel of match officials and umpires, with a record-breaking prize pool of $13.88 million ($4.48 million for the winners) which surpasses the 2023 Men's World Cup prize pot.
Since the inaugural tournament in 1973, there have only been three nations to lift the trophy. Australia reign supreme having won a mammoth seven titles, with England narrowly behind with four and New Zealand being the third nation thanks to their triumph in 2000.
With all the nations ready after completing their warm-up matches fans can expect fireworks as some huge nations battle it out for the most prestigious trophy in women's cricket. Key players such as Australia's Annabel Sutherland, India's Smriti Manhana and England's Alice Capsey will surely have their say in the build up to November's highly anticipated final.
