Prime Video just added 81 new movies to kick off April 2026. That’s a lot to sift through, and as someone who knows how easy it is to get lost in endless scrolling while hunting for a new pick, I’ve curated a list to make building your watchlist a little easier.
I’ve combed through everything coming to Prime Video in April, and I know exactly which movies are must-watch. Perhaps the biggest addition is one of 2026’s most compelling thrillers, “Crime 101,” starring Chris Hemsworth, Halle Berry, and Mark Ruffalo in a tense, twist-filled heist. There’s also a classic western with Kevin Costner and another thriller that serves as a full-course psychological feast.

‘American Fiction’ (2023)
Cord Jefferson’s “American Fiction,” adapted from Percival Everett’s novel, is a sharp, heartfelt exploration of life’s contradictions. Equal parts biting satire and darkly comic drama, the film infuses social commentary with family dynamics in a truly winning mix. With a strong cast including Oscar-nominated performances from Jeffrey Wright and Sterling K. Brown, Jefferson delivers one of 2023’s most engaging and cleverly written films.
“American Fiction” centers around established but under‑read novelist Thelonious “Monk” Ellison (Wright), a college professor whose literary work doesn’t sell because it doesn’t fit publishers’ idea of Black literature. Frustrated, he writes a deliberately exaggerated novel under a pen name to mimic the type of book he thinks the industry wants. To his surprise, the satirical manuscript becomes a bestseller. As the book’s popularity grows, Monk works through this unexpected success and the repercussions of his choice to hide behind a pseudonym.

‘Crime 101’ (2026)
It’s disheartening to see a movie as strong as “Crime 101” struggle at the box office, failing to recoup its $90M production budget. But now that it’s landed on Prime Video, I’m optimistic it will reach the audience it deserves and maybe even hit No. 1. As one of 2026’s most compelling thrillers, it combines a twisty heist plot with a talented cast, making it a must-watch for crime fans and streaming viewers. It deserves nothing less than to top the charts.
“Crime 101” follows Mike Davis (Chris Hemsworth), an elusive jewel thief whose series of high‑profile heists along Los Angeles’ 101 Freeway has baffled law enforcement. When Mike sets his sights on the most lucrative score of his career, his path intersects with Sharon (Halle Berry), a disillusioned insurance broker at a personal crossroads. The two form an uneasy alliance as they plan the multimillion‑dollar job. Meanwhile, LAPD Detective Lou Lubesnick (Mark Ruffalo) begins to piece together the pattern behind the crimes.

‘Dances With Wolves’ (1990)
If “The Untouchables” launched Kevin Costner into stardom, then “Dances With Wolves” represents his peak. Released in 1990 and adapted from the 1988 novel, this sprawling three-hour Western was a massive success, earning $424.2 million at the box office and racking up 12 Oscar nominations, ultimately winning seven. ‘The Menu’ (2022)
Hungry for a thriller that’s equal parts twisted and tasteful? “The Menu” serves up a decadent island dining experience, but each course comes with a side of suspense. What starts as a gourmet feast turns into a psychological tasting menu, with dark comedy and horror sprinkled throughout, enough to leave you craving answers instead of dessert. But seriously, this is a movie you can watch repeatedly and still have a good time.
“The Menu” follows a young couple, Margot (Anya Taylor‑Joy) and Tyler (Nicholas Hoult), who travel by boat to an exclusive restaurant on a private island run by acclaimed chef Julian Slowik (Ralph Fiennes). A select group of wealthy guests has been invited for a lavish multi‑course dinner. As the evening unfolds, each course brings unexpected surprises and increasingly disturbing moments for the diners, revealing shocking turns that upend expectations about the night’s “experience.”

‘The Terminator’ (1984)
Finally, we wrap up with James Cameron’s iconic ’80s sci-fi actioner, “The Terminator.” This groundbreaking debut introduced Arnold Schwarzenegger as a relentless cyborg assassin sent from the future. A high-octane ride from start to finish, the film has remained thrilling over the decades and set the stage for a blockbuster sequel years later. Revisiting the origins of such iconic franchises is a trip worth taking for any fan of the genre.
“The Terminator” follows a nearly unstoppable cyborg assassin (Schwarzenegger) sent from the year 2029 to 1984 Los Angeles on a mission to kill Sarah Connor (Linda Hamilton). Skynet, a future defense system, wants to stop Sarah before she can have a child whose existence will impact what comes later. To protect her, a human soldier named Kyle Reese (Michael Biehn) is also sent back in time. The Terminator relentlessly hunts Sarah through the city while Reese races to find and safeguard her.
