Looking at what's coming to Prime Video in April, it may not be a stacked month, but the return of one of the year’s biggest hits with its fifth season is already reason enough to tune in. Plus, the streaming service is getting a giant batch of movies at the beginning of the month.
This month, you still have plenty to look forward to on Prime Video. That includes the fifth and final season of “The Boys,” with the group determined to bring Homelander down once and for all. There’s also the new action-comedy movie “Balls Up” starring Mark Wahlberg and Paul Walter Hauser, and “The House of the Spirits,” a Spanish miniseries about generational conflict.
You can find more details on these and all my top picks below, along with a complete breakdown of everything new on Prime Video in April 2026.

‘The Boys’ season 5 (April 8)
The spring’s biggest Prime Video release is undoubtedly the fifth and final season of “The Boys.” The series kicks off with a two‑episode premiere, then rolls out weekly episodes until the finale on May 20. With the show coming to an end, it promises to go out with a bang, and the latest trailer delivers exactly that. By the last scene, it’s a rollercoaster of superpowered battles, a reminder that the series has always combined spectacle with comedy without asking you to take it too seriously.
“The Boys” season 5 sees the world firmly under Homelander’s (Antony Starr) control, with the remaining members of The Boys scattered and facing overwhelming odds. Annie January (Erin Moriarty) has organized a resistance to confront Homelander’s growing power, while Hughie (Jack Quaid), Mother’s Milk (Laz Alonso) and Frenchie (Tomer Capone) find themselves imprisoned in a “Freedom Camp.” When Billy Butcher (Karl Urban) reappears with a virus capable of wiping out all Supes, his actions trigger a series of big events that alter the balance of power and set the stage for the climactic conclusion of the series.

‘Balls Up’ (April 15)
If you’re a comedy fan, you’ll want to add “Balls Up” to your Prime Video watchlist. This action-comedy is directed by Peter Farrelly, known for films like “Dumb and Dumber,” and written by Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, the duo behind several “Deadpool” movies. The first trailer makes it clear that the film leans into a wild, over-the-top comedy vibe, delivering a raunchy, loud and unapologetically chaotic energy (classic Farrelly), fusing high-stakes action with broad, boozy humor.

“Balls Up” follows marketing executives Brad Lewison (Mark Wahlberg) and Elijah (Paul Walter Hauser), whose careers implode after blowing a major sponsorship opportunity. With free tickets in hand, they head to Brazil for a much‑anticipated World Cup final, but their drunken behavior at the match triggers an international uproar. Now despised by fans, pursued by officials and underworld figures alike, Brad and Elijah must evade danger across the country and find a way to survive and return home.

‘The House of the Spirits’ (April 29)
Another notable release this month is “The House of the Spirits,” an eight‑episode Spanish‑language adaptation of Isabel Allende’s acclaimed novel. Inspired by her family’s history and Chile’s turbulent political past (including the 1973 coup that ousted her uncle, Salvador Allende), Allende’s book provides rich material for the screen. The newly released trailer seems to offer a sweeping, multi-generational story filled with family drama and just enough magical realism to make this intriguing.
“The House of the Spirits” follows the lives of three generations of women — Clara, Blanca and Alba — as their family navigates decades of change in a conservative South American country. The story tracks the evolving fortunes of the Trueba family over roughly half a century, with these important figures portrayed by actors including Alfonso Herrera, Nicole Wallace, and Dolores Fonzi, among others. The cast also features Fernanda Castillo, Aline Kuppenheim, Eduard Fernández, and Sara Becker.

Alix is a Senior Streaming Writer at Tom’s Guide, which basically means watching the best movies and TV shows and then writing about them. It’s a dream job for someone who’s been obsessed with storytelling since she first figured out how to work a remote.
Before joining Tom’s Guide, Alix honed her skills as a staff writer with outlets like Screen Rant and Bough Digital, where she discovered her love for the entertainment industry.
She heads to the cinema every week as a tradition, no matter what’s showing. For her, movies aren’t just entertainment — they’re a ritual, a comfort, and a constant source of inspiration. When she’s not at her desk or at the cinema, you’ll probably find her deep into a horror video game on her PC.
