Planning a Prime Video movie night this week, but struggling to decide what to watch? Allow us to step in. Every week, we take a look at what’s trending on the streaming service and narrow it down to three standout picks, giving you a go-to shortlist of movies whenever you’re stuck on what to watch next. This means you don't have to waste time scrolling through categories and genres, and you won't end up watching one of Amazon's lesser offerings (like the current No. 1 watch, "Balls Up").
Right now, that includes a high-octane Glen Powell action-thriller, Tom Cruise's final outing as the iconic Ethan Hunt, and a slick crime thriller with two "Avengers" stars. You can find more info about my three picks (and a complete rundown of the Prime Video top 10 movies) below.
Note: This article is based on the Prime Video top 10 movies list in the U.S. on Monday, April 27, 2026.

'Crime 101' (2026)
"Crime 101" was one of the many new movies that came to Prime Video on April 1, and it seems Bart Layton's slick crime thriller is still entertaining viewers at home, as it's remained near the top of Prime Video's streaming charts all month long.
If you missed it in theaters back in January, "Crime 101" revolves around an elusive master thief (Chris Hemsworth) who has continued to dodge law enforcement as he plans and executes non-violent robberies along LA's 101 freeway. We join our thief as he's on the cusp of the score of a lifetime, and he crosses paths with a disillusioned insurance broker (Halle Berry), the lone detective (Mark Ruffalo) who has been pursuing him relentlessly and a volatile younger crook (Barry Keoghan) who's not as careful as he is.
Already streamed it? Here are five more crime thriller movies to watch after "Crime 101" that you might want to add to your watchlist instead.

'The Running Man' (2025)
Although it wasn't quite a box office smash last year, Edgar Wright's take on Stephen King's "The Running Man" has proven to be quite the hit with streamers. "The Running Man" came to Prime Video earlier this month, and it's remained one of the streamer's most popular watches ever since.
If you missed it in theaters, "The Running Man" sees angry, down-on-his-luck everyman Ben Richards (Glen Powell) taking part in a deadly, hugely popular gameshow in order to win the cash he needs to save his sick daughter. His task? Go on the run, dodging the lethal "Hunters" who are out to get him for 30 days. Early on his run, Ben proves far more resilient than he first appeared and ends up becoming a huge hit with the viewers at home... making him a threat to "The Network" and everything they've built in this dystopian near-future.

'Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning' (2025)
If you want even more exhilarating action, then obviously, you should turn to "Mission: Impossible," right? This is the franchise you turn to for big-screen, blockbuster thrills, and this final film in Ethan Hunt's (Tom Cruise) saga delivers some truly top-tier stunts. I would know — the action is the main reason I still rated the film as highly as I did in my "Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning" review last summer. Seriously, the death-defying mid-air and underwater escapades easily make this epic action flick worth watching.
If you're yet to experience it, "The Final Reckoning" picks up a little after the events of "Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning." Here, Hunt and his IMF teammates continue the fight to try and prevent the rogue AI known only as "The Entity" from completely destroying human civilization as we know it.

If it’s in the theaters or available to stream somewhere, he’s probably watched it… especially if it has a dragon in it. Before joining the team, he was a Staff Writer at What To Watch where he wrote about a broad range of shows that stretched from "Doctor Who" and "The Witcher" to "Bridgerton" and "Love Island". When he’s not watching the next must-see movie or show, he’s probably still in front of a screen playing massive RPGs, reading, spending a fortune on TCGs, or watching the NFL.
