Netflix is sending subscribers into the weekend with plenty of new streaming options. Today (Friday, October 17, 2025), the streaming service has added a handful of new movies, and there is also a returning TV show in the mix.

This Netflix content drop will definitely appeal to fans of the Ninja Turtles. Not only has the Turtles' latest animated adventure arrived on the platform, but it’s flanked by two live-action blockbusters centering on the turtle brothers. Meanwhile, true crime fans won’t want to miss “The Perfect Neighbor,” which explores a neighborhood disturbance that gets seriously out of hand. And “Turn of the Tide” season 2 makes its Netflix premiere today.

If you’re looking for something new to watch on Netflix today, then you’re in the right place. I’ve picked out my personal highlights of the streaming service’s new options today, and there’s also a complete list down below.

New on Netflix today: top picks

‘The Perfect Neighbor’

The latest addition to Netflix’s well-stocked true crime library is “The Perfect Neighbor.” This new feature-length documentary explores an escalating conflict in Florida with deadly consequences. At first, it appears to be a minor disagreement between two neighbors, but the situation spirals into tragedy. Alongside recounting this true story, the documentary also explores Florida’s controversial “Stand Your Ground” law and its part in the terrible crime.

The documentary is comprised primarily of Police bodycam footage, meticulously stitched together to paint the timeline of events. Premiering earlier this year at the Sundance Film Festival, “The Perfect Neighbor” is already earning rave reviews and holds a perfect 100% score on Rotten Tomatoes. True crime is persistently popular on Netflix, so I have a feeling this new documentary will find its way into the top 10 over the weekend.

‘The Twits’

If you’re gathering the family for a weekend movie marathon, then “The Twits” should be on your radar. This new animated fantasy comedy is “inspired” by Roald Dahl’s beloved children’s book, taking some familiar characters from the page and putting them in a brand new slapstick adventure. Oh, and did I forget to mention, it’s also a musical? I’m not sure it’ll give the “K-Pop Demon Hunters” soundtrack too much competition, but there might be a few toe-tapping tunes here.

Much like Dahl's beloved children's book, “The Twits” centers on Mr. and Mrs. Twit (voiced by Johnny Vegas and Margo Martindale), who are the world’s most horrible and most foul-smelling people. When they hatch a dastardly plan to take control of the local town, two young children team up with a family of magical animals to bring them down once and for all.

‘Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem’

The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles go all “Spider-Verse” in this new animated flick. Not only is the animation style inspired by Miles Morales' adventures in the multiverse, but it’s clear the creatives involved (Seth Rogen among them) have a deep love for the source material. It’s arguably the best Turtles movie to date, which is quite some praise considering the original 1990s trilogy is beloved by millions of millennials, myself included. Don’t believe the hype? It’s scored 95% from critics on Rotten Tomatoes, and viewers rate it 90%.

In “Mutant Mayhem,” the four reptile brothers are living a sheltered life underground in the New York sewers. Dreaming of becoming heroes, they step out of the shadows when a mysterious crime boss known as Superfly unleashes an army of mutated creatures on the city. “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem” manages to thread the needle of tapping into franchise nostalgia, while also working as a fantastic entry point for new fans.

Plus, if you want even more kick-butt Ninja Turtles action, the 2014 live-action blockbuster take on the foursome, and its 2016 sequel, have also arrived on Netflix. Though a quick warning, don’t expect either to match up to the same quality bar as “Mutant Mayhem.” They’re both fun but pretty flawed.
