TikTok is probably one of the most influential platforms in the world, and although it’s a way of bringing creators and audiences together through viral videos, its popularity shows that even someone with a large following isn’t necessarily trustworthy. That’s exactly the case with “The TikTok Killer,” a two-part Spanish docuseries that chronicles a family’s search for answers after a 42-year-old woman goes missing in Spain following an encounter with a popular TikTok creator during her travels.
After Esther Estepa vanished, her family and investigators worked to reconstruct her final movements, examining her digital footprint (including text messages, videos, and social media activity) to trace where she went and what happened. At the center of the investigation is José Jurado Montilla, the last person known to have been with her, whose past and involvement the series examines in detail, uncovering the chilling circumstances surrounding her disappearance.
