Cassie Elliott (Samira Wiley) is a highly skilled scientist and CIA operative and is convinced JJ and Max are working for the cartel and involved in a plot to unload the uranium to dangerous extremists. She is wrong, of course, but then nothing is as it seems when elite level criminality and the security services are involved.

As with all the best 'buddy movies' what starts as a desperate quest for individual survival necessarily becomes a grudging partnership and then ultimately a shot at redemption for two men who believed that opportunity had long gone. All they have to do now is stop terrorists getting their hands on a nuclear bomb. That's all.

'Atomic' - FAQs

Where was "Atomic" filmed?

Casablanca in Morocco – the country's largest city and a major production hub, offering rich urban backdrops and infrastructure. Moroccan desert regions – these remote landscapes provided the perfect stand-in for the stark and dusty expanses typical of North African terrain. Marrakech, Tameslouht and Sidi Badhaj were also used to double for various North African locales depicted in the series.

Is "Atomic" adapted from a book?

Sort of. The show is certainly inspired by William Langewiesche's non-fiction book 'Atomic Bazaar' about nuclear weapons going "wholesale" after becoming "easier and cheaper to acquire and make than ever before".
