One of the top LG OLEDs of the year just got a huge $900 discount

As much as I love eye-popping picture quality, I'll be the first to admit that it's tough to justify the sky-high price tag that usually comes with some of the best OLED TVs. That's why I spill a ton of ink telling people to hold off on buying brand-new TVs until they've had time to come down in price.

For one of the year's best-performing OLED TVs — the LG C6 — that time has come.

Right now, you can get the 65-inch LG C6 for just $1,799 at Amazon. That's a whopping $900 off its original price, and a deep-enough discount that I'm ready to recommend the C6 with enthusiasm.

You can check out our LG C6 review to get the full scoop on this impressive, mid-range LG OLED, but if you're looking for the basic gist, here's what you need to know: The C6 delivers incredible picture quality and class-leading features for less than what you'd pay for a luxury OLED TV. With this latest discount, the C6's value has never been higher.

In fact, until the C6 dropped in price, I was more likely to recommend its predecessor, the LG C5. But now that the 65-inch C6 is $900 cheaper than it was when it debuted, it's a much savvier purchase.

Like all OLED TVs, all of its pixels are self-lit, which has a hugely positive impact on performance. The C6 can produce perfect black levels and its picture is free of the distracting, bluish-colored light bloom you'll often see on Mini-LED TVs.

As mentioned, the C6 also leads the mid-range OLED class when it comes to extra features and enhancements: All four of its HDMI 2.1 inputs support 4K gaming at 120Hz (and up to 165Hz with a PC linked up), as well as Variable Refresh Rate (VRR) and AMD FreeSync Premium. Unlike Samsung's lineup of OLED TVs, the C6 supports Dolby Vision, one of the most popular HDR formats.

The C6 is built around webOS, LG's own smart platform. Although it's not my top pick for streaming movies and shows, it'll get the job done if you'd rather not take up an HDMI input with an external streaming device.

In recent days, the 65-inch C6 has bounced back and forth between $1,999 and $1,799. I recommend pouncing on this price if you're ready to upgrade and want to save as much as possible.
