Buying a new smartphone can easily put a dent in your wallet. But it doesn't have to. I track cell phone deals for a living and over the years I've learned that you should never pay full price for your new phone.

One of the easiest ways to save is by purchasing your phone via a carrier. Yes, it'll lock you into that provider, but oftentimes you'll be able to get your phone for free via one of the big carriers. For example, T-Mobile is offering the iPhone 17 Pro for free right now. I like this deal because in typical T-Mobile fashion, you can save via trade-in, without trade-in, or with select data plans.

Galaxy S26 Series: free $30 credit + $900 trade-in @ Samsung
Recommending a Galaxy S25 deal is tricky given that the S26 lineup will likely be unveiled on February 25. So if you're a Galaxy S fan, right now you can get a free $30 Samsung credit when you register your interest via Samsung's website. Additionally, you'll get an enhanced trade-in credit of up to $900, which is my favorite part of this deal. Just note that this offer is valid through February 25 only.
