Samsung Galaxy S26 launch date could be a month later than expected
Samsung is expected the Galaxy S26 series at a Galaxy Unpacked event in early 2026. However, a new report indicates the event could occur later than in the past couple of years.
Samsung has, for the last few generations, held its event in either late January or early February. But South Korean publication Money Today, citing industry sources, has stated that Samsung will reveal the Galaxy S26 series in San Francisco on February 25, 2026.
If accurate, then this would be noticeably later than in prior generations. Supposedly, this is due to the poor sales of the Galaxy S25 Edge, which has led to the company ceasing production of the Galaxy S26 Edge for now. Although there are some indications that Samsung could still launch a super-thin S26 model at some point.
This would mean that the reported plans to launch the S26 Edge instead of the Galaxy S26 Plus, as well as replacing the S26 with a pro model, will not go ahead. As such, Samsung is claimed to be reverting to a more typical three-phone offering, made up of the Galaxy S26, Galaxy S26 Plus and Galaxy S26 Ultra.
When can we expect the release of the Galaxy S26?
With Galaxy Unpacked supposedly happening at a later date, it raises the question of when Samsung will actually release the phones. If the reports are accurate, then it's likely that the phone won't be hitting shelves until towards the middle of March, since Samsung normally allows a week or two between a new Galaxy S model's reveal and it going on sale.
We have seen plenty of rumors about the Galaxy S26 that indicate it could be worth the wait. For instance, Samsung could be improving the ultrawide camera to 50MP, instead of the 12MP seen on the Galaxy S25.
Samsung may also be increasing the size of the sensor used for the main camera, which would help to improve the phone’s low-light performance. If accurate, then the Galaxy S26 could be one of the best camera phones for its price.

There are also indications that Samsung could be looking to increase the size of the display from 6.2 inches to 6.3 inches. Not only that, a new leak from tipster IceUniverse shows the apparent screen protectors for the phones indicate a more curved design. This could mean the phone could be more comfortable to hold, while also matching the display size of the iPhone 17.
With that being said, it's still relatively early days for news about the phone and there is still a lot we don't know. For instance, we have heard that Samsung could launch some models with the Exynos 2600 chip. For the time being, we will have to wait and see what Samsung showcases and when.
