Samsung reportedly canceling Galaxy S26 Edge — poor sales of S25 Edge lead to last-minute change
Samsung could launch three phones at the next Galaxy Unpacked

It looks like there's a very slim chance that we could see the Galaxy S26 Edge. One of the big pushes in smartphones has been to make phones thinner than ever. However, poor sales have reportedly led to Samsung halting production of the Galaxy S25 Edge and even its successor.
Samsung released the Galaxy S25 Edge back in May 2025 as a new, thinner smartphone. While Samsung denied any claims that the phone was developed in response to the rumored iPhone Air, it was still one of the first phones to offer an ultra thin design. However, a new report has indicated that the phone has not sold as well as expected.
According to South Korea’s Newspim, the Galaxy S25 Edge had reached only 1.31 million units sold as of August. In comparison, the Galaxy S25, S25 Plus and Galaxy S25 Ultra have sold 8.28 million, 5.05 million and 12.18 million units respectively within the same time frame.
I got the information from my independent source: Galaxy S26 Edge is definitely gone, 100% correct.October 16, 2025
Newspim says this has led to Samsung dropping development of the Galaxy S26 Edge. This would also mean that the phone will not, as some rumors suggested, replace the Plus model in the Galaxy S26 series. On top of that, the company reportedly plans to halt production of the Galaxy S25 Edge once it sells all the models it currently has.
The noted leaker Ice Universe has backed up this reporting, claiming that the Galaxy S26 is "definitely gone."
Why was the Galaxy S25 Edge unsuccessful?
While the Galaxy S25 Edge was certainly thin, measuring only 5.88mm thick, Samsung had to make several sacrifices that likely influenced customer interest. This included a much higher price than one would expect, with the S25 Edge launching with a price of $1,099. While this might have been cheaper than the $1,299 Galaxy S25 Ultra, it was much more expensive than the $799 Galaxy S25 and $999 Galaxy S25 Plus.
This increased price appeared to only relate to the thinner design, as the Edge had made several hardware choices that made the price harder to stomach. For instance, the phone only has a 3,900 mAh battery, compared to the 4,900mAh and 5,000 mAh battery seen in the S25 Plus and Ultra respectively.

On top of that, some users found the camera performance lacking compared to the rest of the series. You get a main and ultrawide camera, but no telephoto zoom. Then again, the iPhone Air has only a single wide camera.
With that in mind, it isn't surprising to see that Samsung has potentially pulled the plug. Or maybe Samsung will find a way to make its other phones thinner over time with less trade-offs. Let us know if you'd like to see the next generation of Galaxy Edge phones — or not — in the comments.
