Honor and Realme have revealed phones with batteries that dwarf anything that Samsung or Google have launched — and that can last a week on a single charge
Because 10,000 mAh isn't quite enough
For the longest time, we have seen the standard battery size for most of the best phones sit comfortably around 5,000 mAh, but a new release is aiming to double that capacity.
Realme might not be a company that many of you recognize, but it specializes in affordable smartphones. However, the latest product announced by the company, the Realme P4 Power, looks to be a real game-changer thanks to the 10,001 mAh battery. According to Realme, the new Titan battery can last a full week on a single charge, outlasting even the longest-lasting phones.
While Realme hasn’t released the full specs for the device, it has stated that the phone will feature advanced safety features, while utilizing smart technology to help maintain consistent performance, while slowing wear over time. The phone's "Titan" battery is also stated to last for 1,650 charging cycles before the battery health hits 80%, with Realme guaranteeing the battery health for 4 years, and promising to replace it if it drops under 80% before then for free.

While we might not know the exact battery life of this phone, Realme’s head of product marketing shared an image on X that appears to give a good indication. The image shows off the phone's battery settings page, and appears to show that the phone is on 3% battery after having been on for over 31 days without a charge.
Honor also enters the ring with a bigger battery
It’s not just Realme that’s aiming for a much larger battery, as Honor has also released a device featuring a battery with a five-figure capacity. The Honor Power 2 features a 10,080 mAh battery, alongside a MediaTek Dimensity 8500-series chip and 80W wired and 27W wireless fast charging options.
These new Realme and Honor devices provoke big questions about why companies like Samsung and Google seem uninterested in increasing their phones' battery capacities by quite so much. And the likely answer is that brands like Apple, Google and Samsung currently focus on utilizing existing lithium-ion batteries, while the new Honor (and likely the Realme) uses new silicon-carbon cell instead.
As seen on the OnePlus 15, which manages to offer a battery life that can easily reach two days, silicon-carbon cells are more energy-dense, allowing for a higher capacity without increasing the battery's physical size. However, concerns about these batteries' longevity, and the sourcing of their components, have meant adoption has been slow to date.
