I love a good family-style meal. Whether it's hosting a dinner party for my parents or enjoying a cake picnic with my closest circle of friends, I love plating up exquisite dishes and trying new recipes. But this hasn't always been the case. I was a notoriously bad chef, and I would often groan at the thought of any meal taking longer than 20 minutes to prepare.
Fortunately, that’s where the world of kitchen appliances comes into its own, with the sole purpose of making cooking easier and more efficient. I’ve been fortunate enough to try out a variety of kitchen gadgets and gizmos, and I can honestly say they've improved my cooking skills. These appliances have helped me bid farewell to the days of burnt toast, undercooked chicken, and soggy fries — all without adding any extra fuss to meal prep.
From effortlessly creating complex cakes with my KitchenAid stand mixer to brewing up caffeine delights with my Ninja Luxe Cafe, the gadgets listed below are my most-used, most-loved and most-rated in the kitchen. And the best part? They're now discounted at select retailers, including Amazon, KitchenAid and The Good Guys.
You'll need to act fast to nab a solid discount, though, as these prices won't stick around long.
5 Top-rated kitchen appliances
Now at a new low price during KitchenAid's Mid-Season sale, this versatile appliance is within reach of more budget-minded shoppers. In the box with this mixer is the whisk, dough hook and flat beater to get you started. That said, the KitchenAid KSM45 stand mixer is more than just a whipping and mixing machine. When paired with additional attachments, you can slice veggies, grind meat or even make pasta — the options are endless. Personally, my favourite attachment is the scale and sifter tool, now discounted to AU$194 from AU$259, which can accurately measure and sift dry ingredients and dump them directly into the bowl.
Got a bit more wiggle room in your baking budget? You could also consider the KSM195 model, now available for AU$799 in the 2026 colour of the year, Spearmint.
As my new favourite air frying and crisping apparatus, Ninja's latest air fryer packs 1700W of power into a portable design. With two borosilicate glassware containers, the Ninja Crispi "baskets" can serve as both frying and serving dishes. The borosilicate means they can also withstand extreme temperatures, making it easy to take your favourite foods from frozen to crispy. The Crispi also comes with two removable crisping grates and two snap-on container lids for easy food storage. This Amazon deal is exclusive to the Cyberspace and Stone colourways; however, Sage is also available for AU$249.
Also available at Ninja in all colourways for AU$249.99
Score a nice AU$130 off this new smart toaster from Breville. Instead of using a traditional timer method, the Eye Q Auto uses optic sensor tech to scan your toast, crumpets and English muffins every second and will stop toasting once it's reached your desired shade of ‘doneness’. I reviewed the Eye Q a few months ago, and loved everything but its premium price tag. Thankfully, this deal at The Good Guys makes that little drawback disappear, with the 4-slice now down to just AU$469. Available in all four colourways under the same listing.
Also available at Breville direct for AU$566.10 when you use one of our exclusive 10% off Breville coupon codes. But no matter where you choose to shop, this smart toaster is worth picking up quicksmart.
This 3-in-1 coffee machine brews quality espresso, drip coffee and even fast cold brew using its Barista Assist technology, an integrated grinder and weight-based dosing. As someone who enjoys iced coffee all year round, the Ninja Luxe Cafe has changed my life, thanks to its cold-pressed espresso presets and its specialty Dual Froth system with a cold-foam setting.
Not quite the low of AU$594 I saw last week during Amazon's Big Smile Sale, this AU$645 price on the Stainless Steel model is still rather impressive — especially given it's only discounted to AU$699.99 at Ninja direct.
I picked this wireless thermometer up a few months ago, and I honestly haven't looked back.
Using built-in Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity, you can easily monitor your cooking progress and temperature using Inkbird's BBQ thermometer. The kit comes with two detachable probes, an LCD screen displaying temperature and a charging cord. Made from food-grade stainless steel, the probes are waterproof, heat-resistant and wear-resistant, meaning they can be popped into the dishwasher after use for easy cleaning. Now discounted by 40% at checkout on Amazon.
